AUGUST 3, 2015... Powering past D.J. Johnson on lap twenty, Tipton, California’s “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr. sailed to his eighth career USAC West Coast Sprint Car triumph. By earning the $1,500 victory at Hanford’s Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds, Faria inches closer to his second series crown. Johnson, Richard Vander Weerd, fast qualifier Brody Roa, and hard charger Tristan Guardino rounded out the top-five drivers.

At the drop of the green flag, polesitter D.J. Johnson grabbed the early lead. Looking to rebound from a crash at Tulare, Johnson inched away from Vander Weerd and Faria. As the leader set a torrid pace on the fast surface, Faria dropped Vander Weerd to third and set his sights on Johnson. “Hollywood” managed to catch the former USAC Western Classic Rookie of the Year and apply heavy pressure. Johnson had excellent drives off the second corner, but Faria would close the gap in the north turns. On lap twenty, Danny secured the top spot and carved his way past slower traffic. At the checkered flags, “Hollywood” earned his second victory of the season.

Driving Junior Bowman’s #17V Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / SurfnSprint Spike, Danny Faria Jr. left Hanford with a 120-point advantage. The 2013 Champion qualified fourth out of a season low 10 racers and won the 10-lap DJ Safety Heat Race #2. At press time, the point leader has two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, one high-point driver award, five heat race victories, ten top-10 finishes, and 64 feature laps led.

After leading the first nineteen laps, D.J. Johnson of Stockton, California claimed second at the Kings County Fairgrounds. Piloting the family owned #33 Proplant Farm Services / J. Milano Company Eagle, Johnson was sixth quick in time trials and ran second to Faria in his heat race. Heading to Santa Maria on August 22nd, D.J. ranks fifth in the point chase with five heat race victories, one DMI / Ultra Shield Race Products Hard Charger Award, eight top-10 finishes, and 37 feature laps led on the season.

Visalia, California’s Richard Vander Weerd placed third in the Hanford 30-lap feature. Racing the family owned #10 Vander Weerd Construction / Stone Gate Development Maxim, Vander Weerd qualified fifth overall and scored fifth in his heat race. Currently, the 2011 Champion is second in the point standings with two feature wins, one Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award, one dash win, three heat race victories, two DMI / Ultra Shield Race Products Hard Charger Awards, nine top-10 finishes, and 37 feature laps led to his credit.

Brody Roa of Garden Grove, California ran close to Vander Weerd but had to settle for fourth at Hanford. Driving the BR Performance #91R HD Industries / Burris Racing Maxim, Roa earned his first Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award of the year and took third in his heat race. The former Wagsdash Champion left the Kings County Fairgrounds placed ninth in points with one heat race victory and five top-10 finishes in the campaign.

Fremont, California’s Tristan Guardino officially earned the night’s DMI / Keizer Wheels “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a fifth place run from eighth. Piloting Steve Watt’s #81 Maxwell Industries / Steve Watt Enterprises Maxim, Guardino brought out a first lap caution flag and made his way forward after restarting at the back. The rookie contender was eighth fast in time trials and scored fourth in his heat race. Currently seventh in points, Tristan has one feature win, one heat race victory, one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win, six top-10 finishes, and 39 feature laps led.

Jace Vander Weerd of Visalia, California raced to victory in the 10-lap Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1. Racing the family owned #88 Vander Weerd Construction / Stone Gate Development Maxim, Vander Weerd qualified seventh overall and finished seventh in the main event. Heading to Santa Maria, the former USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year is third in the point standings with two heat race victories, one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win, and twelve top-10 finishes on the season.
