The first driver highlighted will be 2004 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee Chuck Amati who calls the Carbondale, Illinois area home. Amati was nicknamed the “One Armed Bandit” after an injury to his right arm relegated him to using his left arm to steer the car one night with the other arm strapped to his lap. While his arm fully healed and he raced with two arms, the nickname stuck with him for his entire career.
Amati competed and won at I-55 Raceway in the 70s & 80s. He will be at I-55 Raceway as part of the 30th Anniversary Season of the World of Outlaws.
