Sam Halstead, Henry Delonjay, Tony Dunker and Eddie Dieker all picked up feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, May 22 during Budweiser/Rinella Distributing night at the races.

Brian Kenning started on the pole position for the 30 lap main event for the Budweiser IMCA Late Models and held off Sam Halstead for the first eleven laps but Halstead made his move on lap twelve and pulled into the top spot. Halstead then drove a magnificent race and held off several challenges from Brent Slocum as Slocum was able to pull even or slightly ahead during several laps late in the event. Halstead held his line and took the checkered flag ahead of Lonnie Bailey and Brent Slocum who were fighting for the second spot side by side over the last few laps. Bailey was penalized four spots after the event for questionable driving during and after the event moving Slocum into the second spot followed by Mark Burgtorf, Kenning and Tom Darbyshire. The heat race wins went to Darbyshire, Halstead and Kenning with Jason Connoyer taking the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. Tom Darbyshire now holds a 6 point lead over Bailey and Burgtorf in his quest for the track point’s championship at Quincy Raceways.

Ted Allen got the lead at the wave of the green flag in the Miller Lite A-Modified feature event and looked like he may have been on his way to his first feature event win but it was not in the cards this week as Henry Delonjay ran him down on the seventh lap and pulled away to take his third feature win this season. Allen held on for second with Brandon Lennox taking third, Danny Lake fourth and Gary Wilson fifth. Allen and Lake were the heat race winners with Delonjay grabbing the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash. Michael Long holds a slim one point lead over Delonjay and a three point margin over Lennox in his quest for the points title in the A-Modifieds.

The B-Modified put on a great feature event this week as they ran from green to checked flags without a single caution flag. Tony Dunker got the monkey off his back by taking the win by leading all 20 laps but it sure was not a boring race as the action was hot and heavy for the rest of the top 5 spots. Joe Bliven, Wyatt Lance and Jeff Waterman put on a show by swapping spots over the entire event. Rookie Jeff Waterman looked like a veteran in making a pass coming off turn 4 on the seventh lap by passing both Bliven and Lance by taking the middle groove in a three wide duel. Waterman then set sail to catch Dunker over the remaining laps but was only able to get the 2003 and 4 B-Mod Track Champions rear bumper at the checkered flag settling for the second spot. Dunker has had a terrible 2005 season until this point and his win was widely celebrated. Following Dunker and Waterman to the finish line was Wyatt Lance in third, Joe Bliven in fourth and Jim Leffew in fifth. Robbie Reed and Dunker were the heat race winners. Lance now maintains the biggest points margin of all the divisions at Quincy Raceways with a 19 point cushion over Joe Hooper.

Eric Booher took the lead of the Bomber feature event at the drop of the green flag with Jeff Delonjay in hot pursuit. Delonjay pressed Booher for the lead and got by to take the top spot on the third lap but Booher fought back and regained the lead until the sixth circuit. Eddie Dieker came from his third row starting spot and too over the lead on a seventh lap restart. Dieker then pulled away to take the win followed by Adam Birck in second, Steve Carlin in third, Delonjay in fourth and Jerry Jansen in fifth. Carlin, Dieker and Steve Watkins Jr. took the heat race wins. Jansen now holds a six point lead over Carlin in the Bomber point standings.
