“Thunder Fest Late Model Shootout” Week Is Here!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – September 24, 2012 – The time has come, there is nothing left to do. Promoters Dennis and Stanley Slader have spent over a year preparing and organizing the second annual “Thunder Fest Late Model Shootout” presented by Mark Martin Auto Group of Batesville, Arkansas featuring the Arkansas based Comp Cams Super Dirt Series and the Missouri based MARS late model DIRTcar series that will take place at the famed Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Thursday through Saturday night, September 27-29th.

Now, here are the final details on what is to be taking place atop the famed half mile dirt oval located on the Muskogee Fairgrounds.

Itinerary: Thursday night, September 27, will see the track will host an open practice session with a big pit party enabling fans to hang out with drivers who show up for the nights practice.

Friday night it all kicks off between the two super late model dirt car series with the nights feature finale winner bringing home $3000.

Championship Saturday night another complete show will be run and that night’s feature finale will pay $5000 to win.

Inaugural champion: Will Vaught of Crane, Missouri won both night’s of racing action last year.

Drivers: MARS DIRTcar drivers to look for include current series point leader Jesse Stovall, Tony Jackson, Jr. Justin Asplin, Leroy Johnson, Brandon Morton, Terry Phillips, David Turner, Tommy Weder, Jr., Tanner English, Justin Wells, Will Vaught and Shane and Ken Essary.

CCSDS drivers include current point leader Jon Mitchell, Brandon Smith, Jon Kirby, Curtis Cook, Robert Baker, Chandler Petty, Kyle Beard, Keith Lawson, Tommy Surrett and Kenneth Jackson.

Other drivers expected to compete include Gary Christian, Jack Sullivan, Morgan Bagley, Jason Redmond, Dustin Mooneyham, Dillion Rupe along with other drivers from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Kansas have all expressed their intentions on competing. Over fifty late model drivers are expected.

Support divisions: The tracks modified division will be competing both nights paying $1000 to win, $100 to start both nights. Any driver who can win both nights modified feature finale will earn an extra $500. There is a one-time $100 entry fee. The 360/b-mod feature winner both nights will pay $300 to win and $50 to start while the IMCA/NCRA type southern sport modified feature winner both nights will earn $300. The street stock division will pay $300 to win while pure stocks pay $150 to win.

Admission times and prices: Thursday night’s open practice starts at 6:00 pm until done with all grandstand admission free. Friday and Saturday night will see gates opening at 5:00 pm with hot laps beginning at 7:00 pm and racing at 7:30 pm. Grandstand admission prices for Friday night are $20 for ages fifteen and up, free for those fourteen years of age and under. Championship Saturday night grandstand admission is $25, free for ages fourteen and under. Pit passes both days are $35.
