NORMAN, OK, November 16, 2005 -- Many of the pieces for the 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series season are in place, and DIRT MotorSports is excited to announce that John Gibson, the Voice of the Outlaws, has extended his commitment through the 2007 season. His return next season will mark his 11th consecutive year of calling the World of Outlaws action for fans in the stands and those listening all over the globe on the online DIRT Radio Network™ through DIRTVision.com™.

It’s a little publicized fact, but when Steve Kinser went to compete in an International Race of Champions event on the first night of qualifying in September’s Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway, Gibson became the Ironman of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series. Gibson has not missed an Outlaws race since 1995.

All those years of seeing tracks and talking with drivers and promoters from coast-to-coast and across the globe makes Gibson one of the most educated and respected people in sprint car racing, and makes him an obvious choice to host the new “Elbows Up!” program along with Brad Doty, on The Outdoor Channel, a sit-down interview session with the hottest drivers on tour. The first installment of Elbows Up! which was taped at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the season finale, will air Wednesday, December 21st at 8 p.m. ET on The Outdoor Channel. Gibson will continue his role as host of the show along with Doty, for the 2006 season.

“I’m really looking forward to my 11th season of calling the action of the greatest show on dirt,” said Gibson, a native of Pittsburgh who travels non-stop to attend racing. “I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to watch the world’s greatest sprint car drivers perform night after night, the World of Outlaws have given me the opportunity to live out every race fan’s dream. I’m really excited to be a part of the 2006 season, both on the PA at the tracks and on the Internet with the DIRTVision broadcasts. I’m also looking forward to increasing my involvement with the World of Outlaws television package on the Outdoor Channel.”

“We are excited to have Johnny continue as the Voice of the Outlaws,” said DIRT MotorSports CFO Brian Carter. “He has demonstrated unparalleled knowledge of sprint car racing and has developed relationships within the industry that make him one of the most sought after announcers in the business.

“With our increased programming on The Outdoor Channel and Johnny’s enthusiasm for bringing fans the excitement of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, we’re excited to know the series will only continue to expand on a solid foundation.”
