Columbus, MS - This weekend, race fans at Columbus Speedway will be seeing double.

Friday and Saturday night, March 11th and 12th, the 4th Annual Rebel Challenge presented by Brown Engineering Racing Engines offers an exciting double-feature weekend with the possibility of a $10,000 worth of Super Late Model winnings. The Rebel Challenge is a fund-raising event for a great cause, with all proceeds benefitting the Bobby Brown Scholarship Fund. This weekend's event is a break in Rebel Challenge weekend history in that the Super Late Models will be running a full show on both Friday and Saturday night rather than a two-night, single race show.

Over the past few seasons, the $8,000-to-win Rebel Challenge has been the first chance for Columbus Speedway fans to see many of the nation's top-tier stars come together at "The Bullring". This year could prove no different. Friday night, March 11th, the heralded Mississippi State Championship Challenge Super Late Models come to Johnny Stokes' high banks to take on all comers in a 40-lap, $2,000-to-win shootout, the second MSCCS event of the season. Saturday night will be action-packed, with a full Super Late Model show including pole qualifying, heat races, B-Mains, and the 50-lap, $8,000-to-win Rebel Challenge.

The best Super Late Model drivers in the region are expected to show at The Bullring along with the usual smattering of top-tier talent from all parts to compete for what could be a $10,000 top prize. Past winners of the event include the vaunted veteran "Pontotoc Pirate" Steve Russell (2002), Dirt racing's top national star Scott Bloomquist (2003), and the ragged-edge, often controversial "Kosciusko Kamikaze" Anthony Rushing (2004). This year, not one, but two winners will be crowned.

Drivers who have already turned in stellar performances at Columbus Speedway in 2005 who are expected to make a strong run at a Rebel Challenge weekend win are Winter Classic winner David Earl Gentry and last Saturday night's season opener winner Scott Dedwylder.

Another lucky winner will also be chosen, as Robert Brown will be giving away a diamond bracelet on each night. A registration table will be set up in the pit area, only ladies are allowed to register. The bracelets come from Sydney's Jewelry of Tupelo, MS.

Also in action will be the Rebel Championships, featuring Open Wheel Modifieds vying for $2,000-to-win, Late Model Stocks going after $1,000 top prize, and hard-nosed Street Stock competitors racing for $800 to win. The Rebel Championships feature qualifying races on Friday night with B-Mains and features on Saturday night.

For a spectacular and memorable racing weekend on March 11th-12th, The Bullring is the place to be. All race information (including event format and admission) is available on the Columbus Speedway Official Website located at www.ColumbusSpeedway.net or the Official Event Flyer located at http://www.midsouthracing.com/columbusrebel05.htm so stop by for details.
