Kellen Chadwick First to Enter $15k Wes Hurst
Tucson, Arizona (October 9th, 2009) – After a near fatal outing at Casa Grande’s Central Arizona Raceway February 2008, Kellen Chadwick will return to Arizona for one of the most prestigious modified races of the year. Chadwick, now fully recovered from his 2008 accident, is the first of many drivers expected to throw their hat in the ring vying for the $15k to win Wes Hurst Memorial title.
Chadwick, from Oakley, California, entered the Modified scene in 2001 with feature wins in his first year and earning Rookie of The Year honors at Antioch Speedway. The next seven years would find Chadwick splitting time between Super Late Models and Modifieds finding success in both while not only winning some stellar Modified events but qualifying for many major national Late Model shows like the Colossal 100 and the Show Me 100. Chadwick returned to racing action in 2009, winning a Western Allstars Late Model race earlier this year, and now looks to USA Raceway’s Wes Hurst Memorial.
“It will be great to back in Arizona” commented Chadwick “Last February was in the past and we are concentrating on the future now.”
The Wes Hurst Memorial which takes place on the weekend following Thanksgiving enters it 5th year and is anticipated to be the largest Modified event of 2009. The best of the best will tackle USA Raceway's 3/8-mile clay oval for three days on November 27, 28 and 29, with nearly $100,000 in prize money to be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event. An unprecedented $15,000 top prize awaits the eventual winner as that name will be added to past champions that include Christy Georges, Richie Tosh, Tommy Weider and 2008 winner Terry Phillips.
