2007 Points Champions Crowned at Macon Speedway

Macon, IL – The final event of the 2007 race season is now in the books and the tight points battles have been decided. The Chevrolet Late Model points title was decided weeks ago when Mike Hammerle captured his first points title with a 110 points lead over Cory Daughtery
Jim Leka emerged as the Barbeck Modified points champion with his 62 point lead over Clark Robertson. Randy Myers slipped to third place in the standings on the final night as the Springfield, IL driver was sidelined with mechanical woes.
The ultra tight three way points battle was decided on the final night of competition with Greg Kimmons from Pleasant Plains, IL emerging as the 2007 Hogan Grain / Kubota Sportsman champion. Runner-up Mike Pickering found himself just 26 points short while Taylorville’s Scott Landers completed the top three contenders just 72 points short.
Steve Ewing’s year end domination carried him to the 2007 Street Stock points title. Ewing, who won the final seven feature events, carried a 70 points lead over Larry Russell Jr. Mike Pickering rounded out the top three drivers just 94 points behind Ewing.
Bruce Dulgar ended up with a healthy points lead over James Hankins in the Hornet division with a 150 points lead. Todd Rush from Pawnee was 198 points behind in third place.
The track staff and management would like to thank the drivers, crews, fans and sponsors who made this 2007 season a very successful one and congratulate all the point champions. Macon Speedway will be holding a Halloween Awards Presentation Night at the track on Saturday, October 27th from 7-10pm. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.
