2016 UMP Pro Mod rules updates for Highland, Federated I55 & Belle-Clair

Like i started in another thread, these 3 tracks and possibly another need to get on board for a set of rules and drop the ump sanction for this class before it dies. Crate motors 2500 pounds, open cubic inch motor 2550. That simple, not freaking hard.

Playing devils advocate here. Suppose a sticker wasnt put on properly and flies off at speed. Do the businesses that administer the stickers keep track of this? Will we have to pay for replacement stickers?

What happens when a guy gets a shock approved, and alters it? How does UMP plan to check that?

And whats gonna happen the first time someone walks by a hauler and sees an aridly placed sticker sheet sitting on someones work bench?

Just food for thought..

This is a money grab by these three tracks to cost the racer after talking with Macon yesterday rules are same as last year and mr sergeant even hinted at the fact that they are looking at other possibilities for the future like imca but whatever rules package they run next year he tells me you will know in July of this year not 2 weeks before season

We'll bud the first three years this class was affordable and dam fun,but now that's gone.

sure were EZ on the pocket book----I ran 5th at 2 tracks and 9th nationally ------ with a converted sportsman car ---- now I have 3 running mods that I may have 10grand in --- ALL COMBINED ----will some one help me understand why UMP wants to ban roller rockers???? may cost a bit more in the door but will help save wear in the long run-----------------JMO

UMP requires the sticker.. Not the tracks. All UMP sanctioned tracks will have the shock sticker rule.

We're is the money going to the driver point fund at each track to the whopping 1000 national champion can anyone answer this and me Sargent again said feel free to pass along we will do what the drivers want not trying to argue with u jimmy but that's what I was told

I think realistic numbers would be 80 b-mods and 6 shocks per car....... which would be $4800 and probably cover our national point money. I know 6th is $300 and 11th is $140.

I bought 2 new Integra 421 series shocks 3 weeks ago from Performance Bodies, $65 per shock and no UMP sticker.

How much more difficult is it to look at a shock to see if it is an approved shock vs looking to see if it has a sticker on it? What happens when they fall off from washing your car? This is lame.

Should be a shock claim where the sanctioning body claims a winners shocks and sends them to be teched periodically but often. The shock manufacturer should provide replacement shocks as part of their deal. They could recycle teched shocks after rebuilding them. If you're cheating ..you will be caught.

PS UMP fails again!

I do agree with this.. Tracks/sanctions should just claim a shock or two for $75 every couple of weeks and have them checked..

They won't do it. As I stated earlier they had a sponsor for teching crate engines and the last year of that deal UMP never took even one engine. It would not have cost them one dime. Even the replacement engines were given to them. Then sold those!!! Lazy and greedy!

UMP destroyed that class.

I don't know what there is to check on the shock, you can look at it according to rules and see if it's the legal model or series of shock, there is no rule on the valving or gas pressure, no one is listening to the racers, it's all about ump trying to make money, I'm not going into the behind the scene details that almost took place with the shocks that would have eliminated bilstiens but the 2015 i55 champion sold his car this week so it no longer pertains to us, to costly when rules change 2 weeks before season starts!

So Brian does that mean we can expect to see Jason back in a street stock? Lol

Couldn't have said it better UMP does not tech. I guess if it's got a sticker or a seal and UMP got there cutback it's good to go! Just think how much the no grooving rear tires will save a racer wtf! There's a reason my car is for sale and if I don't sell it I guarantee IT won't be at any UMP tracks! As far as the shock stickers they can shove them right up there ass! By the way track tech is a joke also...

Its sad to think that promoters feel they need a sanction to tell them how to run their tracks. How did local racing ever make it before all big money sanctions came to town? Oh wait i know how they made it. With full grandstands and full pit areas. Rules that were enforced and rules to save the racers from themselves. Its no big secret that cost is killing most racers. But these glorified strong arm robbers cant help but gouge at every turn. Plain and simple, there are more budget racers on the local level than unlimited budgets. So it would make sense to take care of the majority rather than the minority.

Grow some balls promoters. You wonder why your fan count suffers? Might have to do with your car count. Most tracks with good car counts dont have much problem with putting fans in the stands. You dont have to come up with completely new divisions. Just make some cost efficient tweaks to what you have. Make the rules and enforce them strictly. Instead of collecting for a point fund the majority will see none of. Collect the same and distribute it to your racers. Thats just the start of many things that can be done. Take care of those who take care of you. As far as im concerned the sanction need to run their touring big boy shows and leave local racing alone. JMO sorry for the rant.
