Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (December 29, 2008) – Revelers will hardly be done ringing in the New Year when the engines fire to life for the first time in 2009 with the 24th Annual Tulsa Shootout at the QuikTrip Center's Tulsa Expo Raceway this Thursday through Saturday.

A prelude to the upcoming 23rd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire, the Tulsa Shootout features the racing stars of the future along with some already established veterans in a wild mix of Micro Sprint Cars, Go Karts and Quads.

The action gets under way on Thursday with Micro Sprint practice in the morning followed by heat race action. Then on Friday, the on track action shifts to Karts and Quads with morning practice followed by heat races.

Semi-mains for all classes get under way at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, with the Tulsa Shootout championship main events going green at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Among the more than 400 entries in five Micro Sprint Car classes is defending 600cc Outlaw Tulsa Shootout champion Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, OK. One of several drivers tuning up for the Chili Bowl after a top-ten finish last year, Bacon vies to become the first back-to-back Outlaw Micro Sprint winner since Pete Frazier accomplished the feat in 1993 and 1994.

The weekend of racing action will include 15 classes of Karts, five classes of Micro Sprint Cars and four classes of Quads.

Thursday and Friday pit passes are $40 for both days, with Saturday pit passes $30. General admission for Saturday evening's 24th Annual Tulsa Shootout championship main events is $15 for adults and $5 for children, with the grandstands opening at 5:00 p.m. and main events going green at 6:00 p.m.
