5th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic January 22nd!
COLUMBUS, MS- Columbus Speedway will host the 5th Annual Winter Classic presented by Carl Hogan Honda of Columbus, MS Saturday afternoon January 22nd featuring Super Late Models in a $3,000 to win 40-lap championship along with a $1,000 to win Open Wheel Modified Championship plus the Late Model Stock and Street Stock divisions in action. Racing is set to begin at 1:30pm for the Winter Classic.
There will also be a practice session on Friday afternoon January 21st from 2pm until 5pm.
Past Winter Classic Champions include James Dean, Bill Frye, Shane Clanton, and Anthony Rushing who topped a stout 57-car field last year in a highly controversial win, with Billy Moyer taking the runner up spot. Last year’s Modified event was excellent as well with Columbus area driver Jason Hollis taking the win over a 48-car field as Louisiana’s Kyle Pleasant in second.
Event information for the Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic has pit gates opening at 9am; driver’s meeting at 12pm with action at 1:30pm. Adult grandstand admission is only $15 with children ages 10 and under admitted free. Pit gates open at 9am. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome as always, and for added convenience radios can be tuned to FM 88.5 to listen to the Columbus Speedway broadcast.
