BATESVILLE AR. The Batesville Speedway will wrap up it's 2003 racing season October 15-18, with the 3rd Annual World Modified Championship. This event has drawn well over 100 Modifieds in each of it's first two outings, with 195 Modifieds checked in through the pit gate in it's inaugural run in 2001. Jeff Taylor of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas won the event in 2001, and Richie Tosh of Salado, Arkansas picked up the win in 2002.

Once again, the purse for this event will excede $100,000. This year's winner will pocket $9,000, and the race will guarentee $2,000 just to make the field. The winner of this year's race will also be locked into the $100,000 to win Alltel 100 which will be held May 3-8, 2004.

The qualifying format will remain the same. Each night, the field will be broken up into 10 heat races. The top three cars from each heat will transfer into a qualifying feature, and the top eight cars from that feature will transfer to the 70 Lap Main Event, which will be held Saturday.

There will be an open practice on Wednesday, October 15. Cars will be allowed on the track from 7:00pm until 10:00pm. The three qualifying rounds will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The 70 Lap Championship feature will follow the qualifying feature race on Saturday.

Pit gates will open each day at 3:00pm. Hotlaps are scheduled for 6:00pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and racing is scheduled to start at 7:00pm each night. Grandstand seating is free on Wednesday. Adult tickets will be $10.00 on Thursday and Friday, and the seats will be $15.00 on Saturday. Kids 6-11 will be admited for $3.00 each night, and kids 5 and under are free. Pit passes will be $10.00 on Wednesday, $25.00 on Thursday and Friday, and $30.00 Saturday night.

IMCA rules will apply for the event except for the motor claim. All motor claims will be $500, and require an exchange. Bert and Brinn transmissions will be ok, and the weight limit will be 2350 pounds. Aluminum heads will be allowed, but cars with aluminum heads must have 50 pounds mounted in front of the bell housing, 25 pounds on each side.
