Midwest Speed has announced plans for the 1st Annual "BEHIND the PIT WALL, U.S. 101, 4 Cylinder World Championship to be held October 16, 2004 at the World's fastest 1/5 Mile MACON Speedway in Macon, Illinois. Macon, Illinois is just 9 miles south of Decatur, Illinois off of U.S. 51 on Andrews Street. The event will be 50 laps and will pay the winner an unheard of $1,000.00 to win, $50.00 to start for the hornet division (based on 40 entries)! Also on the card for the event is a $1,000.00 to win, $75.00 to start event for modifieds running under UMP rules (based on 40 entries) and a $350.00 to win event for the street stock class.
The race season will have ended at most Midwestern tracks and the UMP Points will have ended the week prior to this event, so there should be a nice turnout of competitors on hand!
Gates will open at NOON on the 16th and we will plan to start hot laps around 2:00 P.M.
Pit passes are $25.00 for each division with general admission $10.00 for adults and free for children 11 and under with a paid adult. There is an entry fee for the Hornet division and the Modified division of $30.00. Entries are still available and entry forms can be obtained by calling (217) 529-6205 or (217) 553-1963 or by e-mailing a request to TJY11@AOL.COM. Additionally, a website for the event up and running at WWW.MIDWEST-SPEED.COM. There is NO ENTRY FEE for the street stock class.
Mark your calendars now to be part of the festivities as we crown a WORLD CHAMPION Hornet division driver, in a fun filled day of activities. There will also be fan give-aways, door prizes and contingencies for the race divisions!
ALSO: You are all invited out to the Behind the Pit Wall Radio Show live on US 101 FM which will be held on October 13th at 7:00 P.M. at the ELDORADO End Zone located at 1234 West Eldorado in Decatur, Illinois. There will be a lot of discussion of the championship event as well as food and drinks available.
