LEXINGTON, KY -- The final race of the 2005 season for the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modified Series will be the 7th Annual Battle at the Bottom at the Soggy Bottom Speedway, located just outside of Morgantown, KY Saturday, October 1.
The 7th Annual Battle at the Bottom will pay $2500 to win, $200 to start. Previous Battle at the Bottom Winners include, 1999 – Jeff Cone, 2000 - Tommy Burnside, 2003 - Darin Obenchain and 2001, 2002 and 2004 winner Russell Childress. Gates will open Saturday October 1st at 2PM CST with Time Trials set to begin at 6:30PM CST.
Heading into the final race, Hanover IN's Joey Kramer has locked up the 2005 NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modified Points Championship, but the battle for second will go right down to the final lap as Justin Rattliff and Kelly Warren are currently at a deadlock for the bridesmaid position. Joe David Turner and Adam Cole round out the top five in the series standings. Kramer is the only repeat winner on the tour in 2005, as over 180 different drivers have competed with the season this season.
It will be the third appearance of the year for the BoB "Mod Squad" at the Mack & Lesa Gabbard promoted facility. Kramer won the series' first visit to the track earlier this year with Randle Sweeney claiming the win last month.
On tap will be a complete race program for the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Open Wheel Modifieds with Racing Optics Time Trials, VP Fuels Makin' Power Heat Races, Dale Meers Racing Engines/PBM Performance B-Mains and the A-Main paying a whopping $2500 to win.
