7th Annual PTGP At Columbus One Week Away

Columbus, Mississippi (11/20/08) – In one week the 7th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix Presented By R&D Plumbing will thunder to life at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 27th-29th, 2008

Four earth shaking divisions are slated for action in the event including Super Late Models, the NeSmith National Crate Late Model Series, Late Model Stocks, and Street Stocks.

With a huge turnout of cars expected once again for this event, the program will once again consist of an afternoon session and a nighttime session on Friday and Saturday.

The weekend gets underway with a Thursday night, November 27th Open Practice for all divisions from 6pm to 9pm.

On Friday, November 28th, things kick into high gear. The highly popular afternoon and evening sessions will be utilized again this year. On Friday, the pit gates will open at 10am with the driver’s meeting at 1pm. The NeSmith Race of Regions heat races, Street Stock heat races, Open Wheel Modified time trials and b-mains, and Late Model Stock time trials and b-mains will be held. At the conclusion of these events, the track will be completely reworked. Racing action will resume at approximately 7:00pm with a complete Super Late Model program, a complete NeSmith National Crate Late Model Series Invitational Event, the Late Model Stock feature event, and the Open Wheel Modified feature.

On Friday night, Super Late Models will be battling in a $2,000 to win, 30 lap event. The NeSmith National Late Model Series Invitational Event will reward the winner with $2,000 and the Late Model Stock feature will pay $600 to win. The Open Wheel Modified feature boasts $600 to win.

On Saturday, November 29th, the pit gate once again opens at 10 a.m. with the driver’s meeting at 1 p.m. Street Stock b-mains will be held. Open Wheel Modifieds and Late Model Stocks will begin a fresh program with time trials and b-mains. The NeSmith Late Model Series Race of Regions will be held, in addition to the Street Stock feature and NeSmith Late Model Series Race of Champions. After the completion of these events, the track will once again be completely reworked with racing action set to resume around 6:30 pm. The nighttime portion of the show will be headlined by a $3,000 to win Super Late Model program consisting of time trials, b-mains, and a 40 lap feature event. The NeSmith National Crate Late Model Series will host a $3,000 to win Crate Late Model event. The Open Wheel Modified main event will reward the winner with $1,000. The Late Model Stock division pays $600 to win.

Thursday night grandstand admission is free with pit passes costing $15. On Friday and Saturday night, grandstand admission is $20 for adults with kids 10 and under free. Pit passes on Friday and Saturday night are $30 for adults and $15 for kids 6-10 years of age.
