A few thoughts about things in general

Until the drivers stand together the purse will never increase at half the rate it takes to operate any of these classes.

Are you suggesting the drivers should go on strike? I don't think we've seen that in this area since the Godfrey super mod class went on strike 20 years ago.

Rules should be kept under controll not allowed to get to expensive and then cut back, when that happens the guys who have the top cars have to spend alot more money to be legal again.

Drivers should not go on strike, we need to work with the promotors to get the large fan base back, it is not us against them. The crate deal is not the answer, there is more wrong with it than I want to get into. Jdsqrd's posts seem to make more sense than most of the rest of this thread.

The cost of living goes up every year annual raises from a employer help soften the blow. Racing cost go up every year if the purse does not go up with the cost ...that is where we are now.

I AM NOT DEFENDING PROMOTERS HERE. BUT SOME OF THEM DO PAY BETTER THAN OTHERS. SOME REST ON THE FACT THEY HAVE A GOOD CAR COUNT FOR WHAT THEY PAY NOW AND THEY WON'T PAY MORE TILL THEY HAVE TO. WEEKLY LOCAL PAYOUTS WILL TOP OUT EVENTUALLY. FANS IN THE STANDS WILL ONLY PAY SO MUCH TO WATCH. HARD CORE FANS WILL CERTAINLY STICK WITH IT LONGER. ITS ACTUALLY PRETTY AFFORDABLE FOR A FAMILY TO COME TO THE TRACK. 10-12 BUCKS EACH FOR A HUSBAND AND WIFE. KIDS UNDER 12 FREE. IF IT WAS 15-20 BUCKS EACH FOR ADULTS THEN I THINK PEOPLE WOULD START BALKING.

I GUESS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS..... RACERS MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER LEGITIMATE WAYS TO LESSEN THE COST OF "WEEKLY LOCAL RACING".THERE IS NO DIVISION, WEATHER IT BE LATE MODELS TO STREESTCOKS THAT MAKES FINANCIAL SENSE. AS FAR AS WHAT YOU SPEND AND THE PURSE RACED FOR. THE GUYS WHO WIN OFTEN AND HAVE A LOT OF BACKING ARE USUALLY THE ONLY ONES WHO STAND A CHANCE AT MAKING MONEY OR BREAKING EVEN.

GETTING SPONSORS I'M SURE NEVER WAS EASY. I WOULD IMAGINE THESE DAYS IT EVEN TOUGHER. THEIR MONEY IS PROBABLY STRETCHED AS THINS AS OURS.

A few more thoughts... very random

As I sit here watching the news tonight, the old Busch Stadium is coming down. I was just thinking that about a week ago with the pictures of half of the old ballpark still standing, and half of the new one already done, they could have stopped where they were and built a really nice 3/8 mile track with killer seating and concessions.

Also wanted to take a moment during this Christmas season to remember fellow members Dean and Fast50, as well as their families.

Looking forward to the banquet season- this Saturday at Godfrey, and the Fan Club banquet January 14th.

Looking forward even more so to the start of the 2006 race season.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
