A Mod car counts slacking....

ALCOHOL

#1 Rule Bender
I have been a follower of races for 58 years. I have seen many things come and go,,mostly go. I think that if UMP is not going to do anything,,maybe the promoters need to get together and come up with some one to manufacture some restrictor plates for a mod class. Let me explain before you go off on a tangent,,,when you show up at the track,,trade your drivers license for a track issued plate,,this plate can have a tab on the side of it that can be seen when looking under hood by tech guy,,,now that's another story,,tech guy,,,when you are done with the nights program,,take your plate back to official and trade for your license,,The official will have a "go-no go gauge" to check the plate to see if you have been altering it,,Then you can compete against these high dollar air breathing monsters with no cost to the racer...This class is in a die mode as we talk,,,car counts continue to diminish,,,Track promoters need to take a stand now because the more you wait on UMP,,the more cars will not come....Just sayin'

Restrictor plates only make it more expensive. The guys that have the money will be even further ahead. Look at the NASCAR CUP engines. Tires is the way to go. Modifieds, coast to coast should all be on the same G60 tire. That is the way to control the cost.

its not just mods that is down all support classes are suffering sportsman class is about dead all because of rule changes, the economy is not helping either and having so man classes doesn't help either there is only so many guys that will race

15 a mods at farley and the 14 at lakeside was usra so it doesn't what sanction it is there will be low car counts , do you think thank racing in general needs a revamping ,how many push rod engines come off the show room floor in 2015

Dude I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I'm pretty sure we agree but maybe you just want to argue with someone.

no disagreement here just stating facts I love it just the way it is but maybe some of the younger generations can't relate push rod rear wheel race car doesn't compute with many of them they like their egads chevy volt and toyota pruis mentality

When Nascar and USMTS went to the chip rule,it opened up alot of other problems! Mainly valvetrain issues! The hard tire with the stiff sidewall is the best answer in my opinion!

Dean Hoffman should know better than most anyone about chip and engine problems given his profession. Following racing for 58 years Alcohol? That's older than the dirt at most tracks. ;) Just sayin.....

Im all for a hard tire and a gear rule Everyone runs the same gear No ands ifs or buts Keep the motors from screaming their guts out then there is no reason to build ridiculous motors

I moved down here to Gulf Shores and Dirt Tracks suck it definately isn't St Louis and make a person miss all the talent that races around St Louis...hardly any car counts at all, They don't run late models around here so I've been going to 5 Flags Speedway and Mobile both little 1/2 mile asphalt and car count at both tracks are low too, Last nite at 5 flags in Pensacola they had a decent car count in the Super Late Models 24 started the 100 lap feature, The super stocks had I think 9 or 10 cars for a 25 lap feature, Sportsmans had 9 cars for 25 lap feature with about 18 street stocks
Went to Mobile tonight and the had 21 super lates start there 100 lap feature, they had 11 pro trucks for a 25 lap feature,9 sportsman cars for a 25 lap feature and I think 20 street stocks started there 20 lap feature but I will say this both shows had the best racing I have seen in the past 5 years with 3 wide racing, many lead changes and racing with out any yellow flags except for maybe 2 yellows in the street stocks and 1 in the super lates for a blown engine and that's both nites of racing..I was Impressed at the competition and how close of racing there was in each class.

The mod class is getting to be what the late model class was.. The weekly shows for these guys are a thing of the past.. With the exception of a few places late models don't draw anybody anymore on a weekly basis.. Modifieds are right there with them... The mod guys won't hardly show up anymore unless they're running for $3000 to win.. I'm guessing the weekly show of the mods will be few and far between because tracks aren't going to be able to continue paying them with only 10 cars..I will be honest I would rather travel hours to watch a big mod show then to watch a local show every week.. Maybe tracks oughta get together and start rotating big shows every week somewhere and stop the weekly shows.. Kentucky Lake & Tri City are about the only tracks that throw big $$ Out to the mod guys and Kentucky lake does is continuously... Kudos to them because I love the bigger mod shows..

The other thing I wanna add is....there's certain mod guys that complain that they don't get the bigger shows like the late model guys. There's been a few bigger shows this year and they don't show up.. Don't complain when these promoters stop having the bigger payouts for the.mod guys.. Example 2-3 weeks ago ky lake had a big show and had 23-25 cars.. That won't cut it.. We will see what this weekend will turn out like at ky lake.. Big money both nights.. Anything less than 40+ will be a disappointment..
