And built like a truck looks like some one is young to know better

Look at the bodies on the Elite cars, they've been in the wind tunnel, and look how everyone is making their bodies now....just like the Elite cars. It all makes a difference.
wow the wind tunnel on a dirt track who would've thought that, come on the the body shakes and rattles on the track what good would a wind tunnel do good on a dirt car

They have tested dirt cars in a wind tunnel for years now. Doesnt do much on a modified as a whole but you can learn how the air blows across the car. I know I'm not 100% but it was like 30 lbs of downforce for every 70 mph. But a mod has no real downforce on the nose of the car so these guys are trying everything for that little bit of an advantage.

and yes rodney you are the king of short track racing ait no you are not some one else has impressive moved I think not they were the the ump mod champs for how many years in a row , and how about this They have tested dirt cars in a wind tunnel for years now. Doesnt do much on a modified as a whole

I never claimed I was, I just want to know who those guys are on that forum. And why their opinions that spoilers just look cool, are relevant so that I can trust them.

its just another opinions thats all aero might might have some effect but but the same winners will no matter what the rule package

N Hoffmans bodies cant be nowhere close to ump legal.. i think they are trying to get side force to gain sidebite. They are very boxy may even hurt them down straightaway

While it might give some interesting information having the car sitting stationary on a non moving surface with wind blowing over the top isn't going to tell you the whole story. In the real world the air is not moving across the ground it is sitting along the ground with no velocity and therefore it has higher pressure than what you would see in a wind tunnel and thus whatever test is being conducted has results that are skewed by that factor alone. Another big factor can be the proximity of the walls of the cell to the test piece which can also mess with the data.

I find it nearly impossible to believe that a modified body can actually produce a net downforce, I think that the body design by itself just produces too much lift.

I can barely spell air, but I assume in the wind tunnel air is blown straight at the car. How often and for how long is a Mod or LM going straight. I don't see the cost of a wind tunnel paying off. JMO.

Any sensable engineer will test the car straight and level then at the angle it'll typically run down a straight away with the right amount of suspension height in the left front and then fully angled and jacked up in the corner.

Wind tunnels are probably pretty bad thing I mean air plane models are used in them prior to manufacture.

Another thing to use would be some of the simulation software used in aerospace engineering.

is the amount of drag vs the amount of grip worth it ?

That one link they calculate drag vs downforce and hp required

Or just go to a test in tune with an adjustable spoiler. Run laps with and without

Also just compare last years average time for say a driver vs this year. Especially if one didn't have a dramatic equipment change
