ALL-STARS RETURN TO MACON AFTER EIGHT YEAR HIATUS

In an exciting announcement, race promoter Brian Thompson has inked a deal
to bring the Haulmark All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series back
to Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois on Friday, September 10th.

Located south of Decatur, Macon was once a favorite stop on the All-Star
tour for fans and competitors alike. Open-wheel races, especially the
All-Star events held here in years past, have been especially exciting and
action-packed.

Macon is, without a doubt, one of the smallest tracks in the nation that
sprint cars have competed. The clay oval, with its tight confines and
high-banks, measures one-fifth mile in length.

"Those All-Star shows at Macon were absolutely unreal", exclaimed Thompson.
"When you put a full field of winged 410's on a track that size it's like
watching fighter planes whip around a high school gymnasium!"

Neighboring Jacksonville Speedway, which hosts a weekly winged sprint
program on Friday nights, will not be running on September 10th so a large
field of cars is anticipated.

The All-Star Circuit of Champions last competed at Macon in 1996 with Danny
Smith claiming the victory.

Macon Speedway is located in the village of Macon off U.S. Highway 51.

Winged Sprinters at Macon! Wow, that could be wild. Hey, bring em to Belleville.

I'll second you on that one Chewin Dirt.

They tried running Winged Sprint at Belle Clair during the fair and that was a scary scene. The promoter does not want the insurance risk and will not permit the running of Winged Sprint cars at the track.

Sprint Cars at Belle-Clair

Macon is not any bigger than Belle-Clair and they have run many sprint car races both wing and non wing shows over the years. All-Stars at Belle-Clair would be awesome. Look at the crowds they had when they ran the two previous open shows which saw little to no promotion whatsoever. The stock car folks might get too much of the open wheel guys flying around the top of Belle-Clair and like it. Stan is not too keen on the idea but it sure would be fun to watch.

I was at the last All-Star show they had at Macon.
It was crazy! :D

Good show too.

I WAS AT THAT WINGED SPRINT FAIR RACE AT BELLEVILLE ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, AND FROM WHAT I REMEMBER I WAS QUITE AN EXCITING RACE!!!!!I THINK THE BIGGEST PROBLEM AT BELLEVILLE IS THE WALLS AND CATCH FENCES ARE NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO KEEP A FLIPPING CAR ON THE TRACK!!!
