American Modified Series Presented by Force for Fuel Wheels into Action on April 2

Glasgow, KY-March 18, 2010- In two short weeks, America’s newest Modified sanctioning organization is set to wheel into action as the newly formed American Modified Series presented by Force for Fuel will begin its sanctioning of Open-Wheel Modified events that will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Modified portion of the UMP Dirt Car sanctioning body.

The inaugural schedule of events currently list thirteen events at nine different tracks in a four state area. There could also be four additional dates that could be added to the schedule that if filled will give the tour seventeen events during its freshman season of racer participation and fan entertainment.

The series will begin its inaugural season of competition on Friday April 2 at the Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz promoted Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the Spring 30, paying $1,500 to win and $200 to start. After a weekend off, the next event will take place in the Land Lincoln as the tour will visit the Kevin Gundaker promoted Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on Friday April 16, followed up by a to be announced date on Saturday April 17 date at an Illinois racing venue. Both of these events will pay $1,500 to win and $200 to start.

The month of May will get underway one day early with a Friday April 30 venture to the Charlie Depew promoted Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL, with $1,500 to win and $200 to start up for grabs, followed on Saturday May 1 with an event at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, IL, where Dirt Late Model hall of famer and Modified chassis builder Bob Pierce and wife Angie will serve as new promoters and will present a $1,500 to win, $200 to start event. The third weekend of May will be the next date contested on the AMS docket on Saturday May 15 at the David and Anita Ferrell promoted Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the Mod Squad Bash, paying $1,500 to win and $200 to start.

A pair of tour events are inked into the calendar for the month of June as the AMS open-wheel warriors will make a return trip to Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL on Friday June 4 for another $1,500 to win, $200 to start event. The other event that graces the calendar in the month of June will be a visit to the Bob Sargent promoted Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, KY for a $1,500 to win, $200 to start contest at the track owned by NASCAR competitors Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on Friday June 18. The schedule holds another to be announced date for the following evening on Saturday June 19.

The month of July will see the tour remain in the Bluegrass state for the “month of money” at this point on the AMS tour with a pair of $3,000 to win events highlighting the tour’s schedule. On Friday July 23, the AMS travelers will roll into Ponderosa Speedway for the Summer Shootout paying $3,000 to win and $250 to start. On the following night on Saturday July 24, the group will drive about one hour up KY Hwy. 150 and make the short drive down Martha Layne Collins Parkway to Bluegrass Speedway for the Bluegrass Rumble, which will also pay $3,000 to win and $250 to start.

The month of August will see the series visit the Hoosier state of Indiana for the first time during the course of the season with a lucky Friday August 13 date at the Mike and Judy Miles promoted Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN for a $1,500 to win, $200 to start race. The group remains in Indiana the following night on Saturday August 14 at the Dave Rudisell promoted Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN for the Monster Modified 40 paying $1,500 to win and $200 to start. There is also a pair of to be announced dates listed for Saturday August 21 and Sunday August 22.

With the cool winds of Autumn beginning to swirl around, the inaugural season of AMS Modified action will conclude the third weekend in September with a pair of $1,500 to win and $200 to start events. The tour’s only stop in Ohio occurs on Friday September 17 at the Kim and Kevin Moler promoted Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH, trailed by the series final event of 2010 at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on Saturday September 18, which will also be another $1,500 to win, $200 to start contest.

The American Modified Series will present UMP Modified sanctioned dirt track sports entertainment at racing venues throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.
