Glasgow, KY-January 9, 2010- America’s newest Modified sanctioning organization is set for a early season 2010 debut in late March or early April as the newly formed American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel will begin its organizing of Open-Wheel Modified events that will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Modified portion of the UMP Dirt Car sanctioning body.

The series will present a 12 to 16 race schedule in its inaugural season of competition that will begin either on March 27 at a track to be announced or on April 2 with an event at one of the newest Modified member tracks of the UMP Dirt Car organization at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY and conclude on September 18 with an event at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN. A partial schedule is being released at this point, with at least six more dates to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

The American Modified Series will run under the technical rules and regulations of the Modified division of UMP Dirt Car sanctioning group. All racers that compete in the series events will be eligible for AMS points, but more importantly, if those racers are members of UMP, they will also be eligible for UMP Modified state, regional, and national points.

Niles Lauderbaugh has been tabbed as the Series Director for the newly formed group. An Indiana native, Lauderbaugh has previous experience as a flagman and on-track official with several different tracks and has also worked with groups such as the Battle of the Bluegrass and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Lauderbaugh will be in charge of race night activities and will handle the racing program, while also communicating with the racers via the RaceCeiver communication device, which will a mandatory item of use with the tour. Also, as part of the partnership between AMS and UMP, UMP will provide two technical inspectors that will be at all AMS events and handle the technical inspections of the race cars, as all competitors will be required to comply by UMP Modified division rules.

Each of the series events will be at least 30 laps in length and pay a minimum of $1,500 to win and $200 to start, while there will be at least two $3,000 to win events that will pay $3,000 to win and $250 to start. There will be a $50 entry fee for all events and any driver that starts a B-Main and does not transfer to the A-Main will receive their $50 entry fee back. The series 2010 cash points fund will be $15,400 in value with the top ten point netters eligible for cash and product prizes, with the series winner getting $2,500 and the series tenth place finisher earning $1,000.

The series will also have a website that will be maintained by Aaron Burnette with Skillsaw Designs. The website will contain a listing of everything from the series race procedures to a place where drivers can become a member of UMP, so as to be eligible for national points and insurance coverage through UMP, and all things in between including schedule and points.

The American Modified Series will present UMP Modified sanctioned dirt track sports entertainment at racing venues throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and southwestern Ohio.
