How many Ford guys are out there? Is there alot of interest in running the Ford engine?
Ford guy here.. make mine the 347 though. If you want the crate classes to grow allow more sealed engine variety :)

There has been alot of discussion about the tire rule. It is my understanding that anybody that does not run the weekly series, but is a crate car from another area or seires, that the good year tire and the american racer tire, will be allowed. If this helps you any Rick

Ford engines. Please contact Ford. The new 351ZS is a good piece. It is a little pricey no doubt. $6750.00. I have dyno tested it already and if you dropped the 1 inch spacer plate it would be a very competitive piece at 2400 pounds.

Now here is the down side. There have only been 11 of them ever made. One is sitting in my basement as I write this. I only know this becuase my engine builder is formerly from a Nascar team and someone from a team found out I had it and called and wanted to buy it. They told him Ford was not making anymore.

From my conversations with Ford they have NO interest in the crate engine business. Why? I wished I could answer that one. The gentleman that was behind it all the way retired last year and since then it seems as if they have just dropped it entirely.

IN a perfect world, boy that would be nice wouldn't it, we would have one Ford, One chevy and one dodge. If we will ever get there is left up to the manufacturers really not us.

Weir and Maypole Chevy are not even close to being MAJOR sponsors.THey are simply places for YOU to buy your engines at a reasonable price versus full retail. Lets just say if they are major sponsors they forgot to send the check. LOL!!! They both a great dealers and have helped in making this come true. We do appreciate the both of them. There are dealers set up in every area Fastrak is in to accomodate the racer.

Now FYI: We do have the chevy fastrak spec engine and actually considered doing a ford and or dodge ourselves.

So racer20 are you for or against the CARS deal ? What about Fergy are you guys for it or what ? haven't heard your oppinion ?is this a deal that you guys can work together and have the weekly races and still have Fastrak as the touring races ,or are we splitting cars and taking from each class .

Hope they can work together,it would be best for both, and Fastrak will still have the Traveling series,as well as weekly at MCS and Lebanon Valley,If not more tracks by 2006!!!

In addition to the $10,000 to Win Points Fund, CARS is very proud to announce C.J. Rayburn Race Cars of Whiteland, IN will award the CARS 2006 Late Model champion the choice of a bare chassis or $3300.00 certificate toward the purchase of a rolling chassis. Special thanks to C.J. Rayburn Race Cars!

So..this sounds more for the week to week..local racer..but..ive only seen 1 track announced close to the st. louis area...you will be running...working on other tracks?? If so..let me know. I know of at least 6 guys..who will go that route..with either late models or modifieds...just waiting to hear if anyone can make a show happen around here...every week. We all work...have families..and really...cant or dont want to drive more than 1 hrs tow to race. Thanks

Ford & Dodge

Why should it matter if your not making anything off the motors? You should just approve a comparable ford and mopar. Unless there is something funny going on with chevy!!!
In the December 05 CircleTrack magazine the ASA LATE MODEL series is the topic of discussion and surprise surprise..... According to the ASA Late Model Series rule book, approved engines are GM 88958604, Ford's M-6007-D347, and the Dodge P5007958 Now if that combo works for the pavement guys, why not for crate dirt late model racing? I called the Ford Racing number listed in the catalog today, the rep that I spoke to said that Ford is interested in crate racing classes. The two sealed engines in the 05 catalog are being revised and should be available by the first of the year. I did not ask about the unsealed crates Ford advertises. Sounds like the Ford and Dodge engines will work if they are allowed.

Yea Cobra..funny thing is..i was at a local Ford dealer today..know the service manager real well..and..thats all he wanted to talk about!! They are ecstatic to this new breed of racing!! Maybe...1 of these 2 sanctioning classes can get ford as a co sponsor..heck..like he said..if ford makes even 300 a piece per motor..better than nothing.which..no...is about all they are doing..things are really tight.

Bowtie,FoMoCo,Mopar

You guys are all missing the point of the crate class. #1 and formost is too keep cost down. Quanity keeps cost down. I'm a diehard Mopar fan. I wish the crates just used one motor(604). Imagine if you could get a 604 for $1000. CJ,Rocket,Masters,GRT,Warrior and all of'em would have 3 shifts on the jigs. The big 3 will survive nomatter who gets the crate business. One cheap reliable motor, hard tires(that will last), no traction control !! , And get rid of those stupid 12" spoilers . Have a decent Payoff and efficient show and pack'em in. Now quit crying and work together, Cause Bloomer,Moyer,Oneal,Frank,Vanwormer,Kinzer,Schliepper, etc. don't care about us 40hr. plus normal working racers! Now if you want to argue and don't like what I have to say call the oil companies because I really don't think you have the intellect to waste my time. signed noitallracer

All The Stl Area Tracks Ought To Go To Crate Motor Latemodels And Modifieds. Bring Local Racing Back To Be Somewhat Affordable. Those Who Want To Run The Big Buck Stuff Like The Pros Do. Go Ahead!!! Pack Up The Hauler And Go Race With The Pros!!!!!

Racing Will Never Be Cheap. But When A Guy Is Spending More For One Motor Than Most Of The People At The Track Make In A Year, That Rediculous. Anyone Who Spends 25-30 Grand On A Motor To Run Local Tracks For $1000-$1200 To Win Needs Their Head Examined. I Guess The Same Would Apply To Someone Spending $15000-$17000 To Run For $500. Sorry If I Offend, Its Just My Opinion!

The fans aren't ready to see the super late models and regular modifieds go by the wayside just yet. I know they are expensive. I can see tracks replacing their SPORTSMAN class with Crate Late Models. The Sportsman class may be the most expensive class when compared to payout that there is.

Maybe The Fans Will Get Ready If Tracks Start Chargin' $20 To Get Into The Grandstands. So They Can Give Better Payouts. I Have To Disagree About The Sportsman Cost And Payout. I Guess It Depends On Which Track You Race. I've Never Been One To Judge A Race As Being Good Based On Speed. I Look At The Passing And Door To Door Competition. These Crate Late Models Aren't That Far Off The Supers On The Local Level. I Still Believe If Every Track Went With These. The "super Late Model Fans" Will Still Show Up. It Would Still Be A Good Show Watching Eddie Dixon, Tim Ratajczyk, Fast Frankie, Ect Ect... If They Were All On These Motors.

I think the fans need to get ready, the way the late models and modifieds are dropping in car counts and the way the payouts have dropped there has to be a change or there are some local tracks in some serious trouble.

It dose not make much difference if I like it or not crate racing is here and I think it will take over the local tracks in the coming years just like it is doing in the South. The crate cars that I have seen run are not all that slow and they have some good racing.

I hate to see the SLM's and open motor mods have trouble but they are, several guys are just not racing any more because of the cost and crate lm's and mods will be a good option for them I hope both open and crate classes can survive and do well at the local tracks.
.

I think the SLM numbers were pretty good locally. I think it would be cool to have both classes. At some tracks of course that wont be possible. I would like to see our street stock and sportsman guys move to this class. Here are a few obvious guys-Jimmy Cummins,Jason Davinroy,Marty Kopp,Smallwood, Wernle, and there are a lot more. (Please dont be offnded if I didnt name you but you know who you are).

crate vs bomber

for 7 years we supported Rick Heck and MVN Speedway and were ALWAYS treated very well by Rick and his staff but this year we went crate racin. We had the same cash if not more invested in a bomber class car but we ran for only $150.00 or even a $100.00 cause of other car classes car count or crowds that did not fill the stands, But now we have the chance to get $1200.00 to win or at least $100.00 to start , We havnt won yet but do hope to soon, still learnin about the car and the new tracks. Point is we seen alot of different tracks and meet alot of great people and still am having fun, Problem was the bomber we had was only legal at one track . This beast can go anywhere and run . Just proud to be a part of this growing and evolving we are all going through and proud of my son Matt just to be competeing with the say 200 combinded years of experiance of all the other veterns of this great sport . and very glad of the way we have been accepted even with our rookie year soon behind us

Anyone who saw the 3-wide battle for the lead in the FASTRAK feature Oct. 1 at BCR would almost assuredly concur with the above statement.
