Corinth, Mississippi (11/22/09) – Anthony Burroughs continued his torrid late season pace behind the wheel of his #121 Mississippi 811 Inc/BHL Motorsports/Mastersbilt By Stuckey Super Late as he picked up the $2,500 victory on Saturday night in the finale for the Long Lewis Ford Bama Super Series.
Anthony Burroughs returned to his home track on Saturday night, November 21st as he entered the final event for the Long Lewis Ford Bama Super Series. With 26 Super Late Models on hand, Anthony opted to skip hot laps due to a slimy track conditions. Despite not hot lapping, he was not phased in time trials as he turned a blistering lap of 13.705 second around the red clay oval. Not only was he the only driver in the 13 second bracket, but via his time he also earned the pole position for the 50 lap, $2,500 to win event. Early in the event, Burroughs would pursue leader, Michael McKleroy, who started on the front row alongside Burroughs for the feature. The duo would battle for the lead for the first fifteen circuits, before McKleroy jumped the cushion in turns one in two, allowing Anthony to take over the top spot. Burroughs would go on to lead the last 35 laps, en route to the feature win, which was his tenth of the 2009 season!
He also finished second in the final Long Lewis Ford Bama Super standings, just 55 markers out of first place, and will receive an additional $2,500 for his efforts.
BHL Motorsports and Anthony Burroughs will close out the 2009 season as well as their partnership together this weekend, November 26th-28th, at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi with the 9th Annual Southern Belle Possum Town Grand Prix. The event will get underway with an Open Practice Session on Thursday night. On Friday, November 27th a $2,000 to win/$200 start event will be held, and on Saturday, November 28th, a $3,000 to win/$200 to start program is on tap.
