Where's the pits & trailers? outside?
On sat. night, the majority pitted inside, the overflow pitted in a
heated tent just outside the building and the trailers were parked
outside....Didn't hear much b!tch!n' about the pit situation....
Don't know about Sunday...
I think everyone was just happy to get in some racing in the
middle of winter....

Trailer parking was a long way off. It was mostly grass out back and too soft to park on. You had to drive if you needed something from your trailer. Unless of course you were one of the chosen few allowed to park right outside the back door! :)

All in all, it wasn't too bad. Typical inside bullring racing. Only a couple of drivers used the front bumper. Most were respectful, thus not a lot of stuff got tore up. The track just needed a LOT more water. Maybe then a second groove would have materialized. A couple of races did have some two wide racing proving it is possible. If they get more water on the track next time it might be really good.

Go Kart line up

Hey Sean,

I don't know about Rodney or not I was told Bobby's boy is driving Rodney's Kart because of the UMP banquet. But anyway I will give you a run down for the possible entry's into the limited modified kart class next weekend. I myself, Scott Hutchinson, Bobby Melvin, Bobby's boy(in Rodney's cart), Danny Jolly, Shane Cochrum, Joey Morris, Jason Justice, one of the Cole Brothers, and a few other fellow stock car boys. Can you say "Mt.Vernon steel block feature in the middle of winter". Good thing this class is just for a Trophy, other wise this could get nasty!! What am I thinking it is still going to get nasty. It is all about the braggin rights!!!!!!!!

More H20 would have helped, but another thing they could've done given all the hotlap sessions for the Focus cars was to put cones or tires on the inside groove to force the cars to rubber up another outside lane in the turns. Those cushions were REALLY wide.

Again, though, it was racing in ILL in January, so I'm not going to b-tch to much.

We went for the Sunday show and I wasn't sure what to expect but it really was a good facility. The noise didn't echo in the ears as I imagined it might. The dust wasn't very bad and it was warm enough to be comfortible. Good food and nice restrooms. The racing was good and a great way to spend a frigid January day.
