Just wondering what everyone thought about the races at I-55 last night?

from what i gather dale jr. nor mark martin were there, why werent they? according to the i-55 raceway website they were both supposed to be there. just wondering what happend.

I don't know who your source was but it wasn't very reliable were they even at the races (your source)? Dale Jr. was the flagman for the modified races which spolighted the NASCAR drivers. I don't think Mark Martin was supposed to be there. I just looked on I-55 site and it said nothing about him being there. All the other drivers but Kyle Petty was in attendance last night. Kyle Petty had some sort of sponsorship thing come up last minute so he was unable to attend. I want to know what other people think about the accident in the first heat race in particular.

Mark Martin was there a month ago on his salute night, and Dale Jr was there last night, but was the flagman for the NASCAR race.

sorry guys, i misread about mark martin. i was mistaken him for truex. sorry. and i was going off the results and it showed jr. nowhere so i figured he was a no show. didnt know he was the flagmen. anyways sorry about the confusion.

take out move

I happened to be video taping that first heat with 21s (Landolt) and 97(Whorly).
What I thought at the track was that 97 put a horrible slide job on the 21s but after reviewing the tape it is clear that 97 deliberatley put the 21s car in the wall resulting in the 21s car being totally destroyed and the driver (Landolt) in the emergency room. Whorley never even lifted or tried to avoid slamming Landolt and 97 would never have even been able to make the turn if he hadn't used Landolt as a berm. Even after 97 hit 21s he continued sliding up the track and eventually ended up in Landolt's line. That is not an example of "that's just racing", that was and example of very dirty driving and should not even be allowed in the street stock class.

Amen sprint fan. I talked to numerous people that night and it was clear from the fans reaction after the feature no one liked that move. Different members of different teams but theirs had a problem with the move. Thankfully Jay didnt end up with a broken back like that had origanlly thought. All I got to say to that one is he better watch out when no one will put up with that crap he may land up in the top row of the bleachers. It was a dirty move and thankfully Jay was not hurt worse then he was. He could of killed someone with a move like that hopefully he will think twice next time he tries to pull that stunt.

Dumb Move

I'LL second the motion on the bad move, that was not the only one he jumped over Jason Evans frontend and he was out of the feature.

yea jason evans would of had a good shot at the feature too. and i think last year worley got black flaged for doing the same move to #98 coming out of turn 2 at farmington

I don't think Tommy went into the corner with the intent to take out Jay. Because he could end up in just as bad a shape. Tommy isn't stupid, he just at times tries to make a first place car out of a thrid place car. But to his credit he did snooker Timmy on the last lap. Or was Tim scared to go down and block him? We'll never know.
I think Tommy is a classic case of a guy that needs to slow down to go faster. Look at guys like Terry Babb, Tim Mongomery, Robbie Standrige, Jim Mohann (spelling?), Jerrod Hull these guys have won a ton of races over the years. Watch them go around the track at Farmington and they are so smooth they look slow while at the same time they are picking cars off left and right. Plus they win without tearing their equipment up or anyone else stuff either. They also know when they have a second place car vs a first place car.

Unlike the Worley deal the second heat was great.Tim Montgomery was a pleasure to see come from the back. Those sure were some pretty slide jobs he was doing. Steve Short had the slide jobs going on also.

The feature was great.Too bad for Jason Keith he was really coming on the top before that car spun in front of him. I think he had a chance to beat Tim. At some point he'll surely catch a break. I was also suprized to see Tim let the lead slip past him on the last lap. Is it just me or does he seem down on power this year? He's good in traffic but he isn't out running anybody in the open. Doesn't seem to be spending as much time on top. He is is normal self giving driving clinics on tough tracks and heavy traffic but he seems to be getting out motored on the tacky tracks.

5 more days and it's Knoxville bound!!!!!!!!

dirt in my beer were u watching the same race i was last night? class act? how can someone who is a class act never let out of the throttle once hitting a car? two cars in one night? give me a break. by the way i think those were boo's we were hearing after the races except for the 5 ppl on the front stretch by the flagman were they not? one more thing class act sending someone to the hospital? i highly dont think so thankfully jay was not hurt too badly things could of been a lot worse.

dirtsprintfan, class act? How did you read that into my post. Read the post again. I agree completely they should have sent him to pits on the first lap of the first heat. He was not even close to making the move stick. Thus the comment I made about him snookering Tim on the last lap OR was Tim affraid to move down and race close to him. I think they would have set him down at Farmington. But Pevey is Late Model counrty. A move like that goes unnoticed at Pevely. They just kind of go through the motions with the sprint cars. Anything to get them run and off the track. Late Models are their bread and butter. As sprint fan going to Pevely I have learned to accept that.

WOW!!!! He's got that many fans left? Must all be children or family... Whichever the case, they obviously don't pay attention to his style.

Tommy (Chassis Twister) Worley is a wild man. I go to farmington about three times a year and every time I'm there he does something stupid. I was there last year when he took out Bryan Mattews and got the black flag. A few years ago he took Steve Short out quite a few times. I've talked to Landolt a few times and he seems like a good guy. So when I read this post it gets me a little angry. That clown is going to hurt somebody real bad one of these days. Something needs done before it comes to that. Get well soon Jay and Worley.... do us a favor, hang it up!
