Arms Answers the Phone in NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Mod Action at Clinton Co.

Albany, KY-May 28- The NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series would make stop number three of its inaugural 2004 tour at Clinton County Speedway in Albany, KY and the defending track champion and 2003 UMP Modified national champion Ricky Arms of Moss, TN would lead all 40 laps of the Lucas Oil A-Main and take the $1,500 payday at the Tommy Craig and Hack Owens promoted 3/10 mile facility.

Hank Bradley and Arms would bring the field to the green flag, with Arms taking the top spot, followed by Bradley, Allan Matthews, Leonard Pierce, and Terry Edwards. Caution would wave on lap 2 as last's weeks winner at Soggy Bottom, Jimmy Payne, would slow in turn one with a broken spindle. Racing action would now resume with a long run of green flag laps, as Arms continued to hold the top spot. Pierce would work his way to second, with Matthews and Bradley mixing it up for third. Edwards, Keith Denny, and Anthony Reams would go back and forth for the fifth spot, while 19th starting Kelly Warren was mounting a charge to the front, already in the top ten by lap 15. As the leaders were set to enter heavy slower traffic, the caution would wave for a large piece of debris on the backchute, slowing the pace. One lap after the restart, Rick Gumm would slow the pace with a spin in turn two. This restart would see Arms and Pierce scoot away, while Warren was attempting to move into the top five. With a five way battle going on for eighth, Edwards and Brandon Green would tangle in turn three with 25 laps officially scored, with Edwards night being finished. The field would go green for another five laps until Gumm slowed in turn one and would take his mount pitside. Brandon Green would be responsible for the final caution with eight circuits remaining as his mount broke the driveshaft. The final eight laps would see Arms and Pierce drive away from the pack, with Arms taking the checkered flag in his Honest Abe Log Homes, Crowe's Auto Sales, Arms Body Shop, Simpson Race Products, Bilstein Shocks, Real Racing Wheels #4 Lightning Chassis, Scott Pass Competition Engines powered, Hoosier Tire shod mount. Pierce would go second, with Bradley third. Warren would start 19th and finish fourth, while Reams would complete the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Matthews, 15th starting Skimp Henry, Denny, Russell Childress, and Jerry Rutherford.

Thirty five entries were signed in for the event, with Kelly Warren scoring the Racing Optics fast time award with a lap of 13.37 seconds. Crown Spray Power heat race wins were captured by Matthews, Arms, Pierce, and Bradley. The pair of O'Reilly Auto Parts B Mains were taken by Gumm and Rutherford. Warren and David McWilliams were the NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series provisional starters.
