Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 1, 2007) – The American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region kicks off its 2007 campaign with this Saturday night's inaugural Steve King Memorial race atop the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.
Funds raised during the event will benefit the Steve King Foundation and the Steve King fund.
The American Sprint Car Series longest-running Region, the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region has featured six different champions over the past six years.
And it will be Edwards, CO, racer Patrick Bourke vying to become the first driver to post back-to-back series titles after outdistancing Jeff Heffner and young guns Josh Fellows and Ricky Montgomery for the crown in 2006.
Other top ASCS Rocky Mountain Region contenders include past champions Keith Rauch and Nick Haygood along with three-time series runner-up Eric Miller.
Bourke's 2006 championship followed title seasons by Gary Taylor (2005), Keith Rauch (2004), Randi Miller (2003), Mike Dreiling (2002) and Nick Haygood (2001).
The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region will be joined by the NCRA ranks in Saturday night's event at Dodge City Raceway Park, which is set to go green at 7:00 p.m.

The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region 2007 slate consists of 17 nights of action at eleven different tracks throughout Colorado, western Kansas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska and South Dakota.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
