ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Tries Asphalt at CNS on Saturday

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 11, 2007) – The American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour has executed a pair of wildy-successful asphalt events in the Carolinas over the past two weekends. Now, the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region is set to take to the asphalt for the first time in series history with this Saturday's event at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, CO.



Saturday's card marks the first of a pair of slated asphalt events at Colorado National Speedway for the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region.



Just four races into the 2007 campaign, Quinter, KS, hotshoe C.J. Johnson has climbed atop the series point charts after capturing his third career series win this past weekend at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, WY.



Johnson holds a 26-point advantage over reigning series champion Patrick Bourke of Edwards, CO, entering Saturday's card, with 2004 series champion Keith Rauch of Thornton, CO, just 22 more points back in third.



Pit gates at Colorado National Speedway open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with hot laps at noon. Grandstands open at 3:00 p.m., with "B" Mains (if necessary) at 5:00 p.m. Feature events fire off at 6:00 p.m.

The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region 2007 slate consists of 17 nights of action at eleven different tracks throughout Colorado, western Kansas, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska and South Dakota.



The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
