Anyone else have a signal but can't call out this evening? When you try to place a call it says "Emergency Calls Only."

Was trying to call in a pizza... doesn't THAT qualify?

Texts aren't going through either. Internet is working though.

Yes... I paid my bill (before certain people decide to throw their two cents worth in).

ALOT of people in Ste. Genevieve have no service, yet a full signal... just wondering how widespread the problem is...

My Blackberry will say SOS sim card error, it will say emergancy call only too, I shut it off and turn it back off, and then its fine!

I work next to the hospital in festus, and everyone there except me couldn't call or text out til around 12. All of us are on ATT. Heck, the one kid tried to call 911 and it wouldn't do that.

I heard Frank O Pinion (KTRS 550AM) discussing this problem with Jose Jimenez (who is a regular guest that answers computer & electronic gadget questions live on the air) on Monday afternoon...Here is what I gathered.

AT&T Wireless activated MMS (picture messaging) for the I-Phones on Friday the 25th. Their entire network is experiencing bandwidth problems due to the overload of users who instantaniously began sending picture texts of any and everything they could think of. Latency issues of more than 24 hours have been reported for some text users. Obviously this taxation of the bandwidth is affecting regular cellphone service too.

I seem to recall him stating he felt their network being near a total collapse as a result.
