another reason why kevin wont get rid of the 4cly class. his food and drink sales will go down lol. but then again he will pay a higher water bill cause with them there is more toliets flushing. god forbid the beer sales go down lol

But they only averaged about 12 cars a night.

The 4-cyl car count at Tri-City from 08’ had a high of 21 cars and a low of 10 on the regular nights. The average of all the regular nights was 14.75 cars. The $1000 to win 4-cyl special had 37 cars with many more that paid an entry fee but did not show because of the change in date.

Back in the day the fast guys or "high point" guys started in the 12th starting spot in the feature(and those guys still won the majority of the time). I think that would be a perfect way to do the 4 cyls. That way if you win enough its gonna start moving your starting spots backward.

My dad says this is how it was done all over the place and then the guys with money started threatening the promoters they'd go somewhere else to race and they all caved. Wich I could have seen that. Think guys like Zobrist and Faust could come thru the field each week?

If the track is racey yes. billy faust is good enough to do that.belle clair did that in the 80s and dixon started in the back alot and won.it would be a good format if a track would do this from the fans perspective.

I'm not looking for any racers to lose a place to race. If you're averaging 14 cars a night, your fellow hornet guys need to show up. As far as doubleclutch saying its a money thing that is simply incorrect. No way will 14 cars (even paying a cheap payout) contribute more than a class such as Sportsman. If Kevin decided to run HIS Sportsman National Rules he will have a Consi in the class every night. There are many Godfrey cars and ex-TCS cars that are sitting due to the lack of tracks they can race. Highland isn't an appealing choice for some racers. Our last season of Sportsman at TCS Kevin had too many problems to make us worth keeping. I'm not trying to speak for him, but i'm sure he is worried about a repeat. Also, more cars means more races, which means longer nights. I'd love to come back to TCS for Sportsman, but I would feel for the class of racers that leave.

Most lap the field cause an average single cam car can not keep up with the dual cams. We are staying away cause its no fun not having a fighting chance of being up front. If you take a good dual cam and tweak it a bit, you are hard to beat without cheating up a single cam car.

If you want more saturday night Pevely drivers to make the trip over on Friday, you need to give them a fair chance to win. Only the TOP running Pevely cars stand a chance at Tri-city. No one else will make the trip.

Not sure how to curb it as every car is differnt and they are way too hard to Tech.

I dont see why tri city should tweak the rules to give the single cam cars a chance. Its your choice whether or not you want to run your single cam car knowing that twin cams are allowed to.

Fredericktown will be running Pro-4's under the A.a.r.a rules in '09 along with Ump Sportsman and Ump Limited Modifieds, also Purestreet.

Gary, I think the problem you have at Tri-City is that your gearing is too tall and this also hurts you at I-55. Your gearing was perfect at Bellville though. :D

my idea for the future racers to start are street stocks. what are you learning in a hornet except for that color the flags are an what they mean.

Let me ask you this though(as I stated in the other thread) Can you accually show me a "STOCK" car? Besides the car that we are building now... NO. I havent seen one. The only thing we have that isn't stock, is a 9" full floater that was passed down. The rules just this year say we can run them. In past years we couldnt run them cause of the price of them. However, with so many teams selling out, over half teh field running them, it is now allowed. We can't run quick steers, hoosiers/AM racers, etc... Pure street tires only! Let me simplify and make it easier:

STOCK 2bbl carb- 1-3/8" venturini only!
Pure STOCK motor, can have heavy duty cam and thats basically it.
NO MSD's or anything like that...

Take a car off the road, throw in a roll cage, seat/belts, and RUN IT!!!

That's a STOCK CAR/"STREET" STOCK Who else runs them this way? Morgan County used to. But they are now called super streets or some junk. When we ran there, all you got away with was square tubing from the rear hoops back, and if you name was Scot Reno, a quick steer... THATS IT!!! Now ya got $100 tires, shocks, beadlocks
(RR only) , etc... Sorry, but that aint "STOCK" as I have said before...

There will be NO future racers unless their dad has the money to make it happen, have thousands in the bank, or had a car given to them.

the only thing i dont like about the hornets it that you already know who is going to win every night and that is the shaw cars and i dont think i wont to keep seeing that. at least in a sportsman class there are more chances of different people winning. but have nothin agenst hornets just wont faster cars and more compition.

I would like to see the sportsman back.might have to change my mind about quiting. and throw one together and go win some races. If the 4 cyl are all stock how could someone have the wrong gears makes you wonder why in a stock class some guys are so fast and some are not

i would like to see the sportsman back also, but i think they make to much money with the hornets, as in lack of payout compared to how many cars and crew members come with them

Not wanting to take anything away from the VERY NICE FACILITY at Tri City but Kevin did drop the Sportsmans because they were a dying class ! Lots of guys geared up to race there and he dropped them. :( Why beg to race somewhere when they didn't want you ???????

I don't think anyone is begging to race there...i guess someone did say please..lol..but I wouldn't assume we were dropped bc we are a "dying class"...we had meeting after meeting bc of on the track things we were doing..it started to get outta hand and KGizzle got tired of it.

Word!!!!!!!!!! Silkwoodizzle!!!!! The problems were really just a couple of the same cars tring to wreck everyone on the track and tempers were flairing!!!!!! The black flag should have been given to cool of the situation, but it wasn't and tempers started to over flow... Now the main reason the sportsman were dropped were to add crates, a non entry level class like the sportsman and street stocks had good car counts, so the sportsman were selected to be dropped. I think they thought crates could have drawn a bigger count of cars, but i don't think it happend.....

hornets

u guys forget us hornet drivers were there before creats he droped sportsman got the creat late model class not the 4 cylnder guys fault

No one is saying it is your fault, well if you are being dropped for lack of car count i guess it could be the classes fault. All we are saying is with the economy these decisions are based on the bottom dollar. if a class is only bringing in 10-12 cars and another class could bring in 15-20 then even with the payout increase it is still making up for the difference with pit passes and concession sales. Someone posted to keep the hornets and just run a feature for 15 laps before intermission. Still have a pay out but that should only take about 20 minutes to run that feature. think about that.....lining up the feature based on pill draw...that would fix the problem of faster cars starting up front all the time and make them start in various positions. Less cost for the hornet guys and still keep the payout the same...That actually sounds like it may benefit the track and racers and fans who like hornet racing.......What do ya think???
