beware, your track could be next. it seems if another track owner *****es enough, ump will measure the distance in country miles instead of highway miles. so if your rival decides to cut through the country and measure the miles and its shorter, sam at ump will probally take your sanction away as well. I think all track owners should call sam and find out what the deal is. I am referring to ccs losing its sanction on saturdaynight because of rick heck in mt vernon. sam measured from gate to gate by highway miles and came up with 51.7 miles. but then rick heck took him on a short cut through the country and measured under 50 miles. my understanding is it has been measured by highway miles. but it seems that has changed. tim murphy

its my understanding that when people talk about "within x mile radius" it ususally means as the crow flies.

I think there may have been special circumstances with Belleville and Godfrey.

And blaming UMP for enforcing the rules is a bit childish. Clay County Speedway should've considered the mileage rule when they went to Saturdays.

they did look at the mileage rule. and we are 51.7 miles from mt vernon. ump even said 51.7. so you tell me whose childish. ump needs to stick to their rules and not change them for someone else.

chidlsh????? I think this whole situation is childish.......mileage was checked before they applied...was accepted then changed.....strange...

Do you honestly think it was worth it, being that close to the border, to go to Saturday? After running Friday all this time? I don't understand why you decided to switch to Saturday nights right in the middle of the season. And then when your decision bites you in the backside, it's someone else's fault. I don't blame Rick Heck for trying to protect his interests. Enough tracks right now are having more than enough problems drawing late models, without this added problem. It's easy to cut over a mile off by taking a couple of shortcuts.

Hell Ya It Was Worth It!!! Until Rick Heck Cashed Out To Sam. Does Anyone Hear This?? Sam Driggers Drove It Gate To Gate. Again Sam Driggers Drove It Gate To Gate. 51.7 Miles!!!!! Then Met At Mcds In Flora With Rick Heck And He Talked Him Into Driving It Another Route. Hello What Was That Route Rick. You Keep Saying Your Way, What Way Is It???

Did Mcd's Close Out Burger King When It Came In?????

Moonflow,,,,As you stated,,about Mt Vernon having trouble getting late models. What does that have to do with Flora? The trouble with Mt Vernon not getting cars is drivers are tired of a dust bowl and a one lane track surface.

This is now a mute point as Mt. Vernon Raceway is closing after this year. What is the deal with the 50 mile rule anyway?

Belle Clair and Godfrey are not even that close to worry about any 50 mile rule. This too is a mute point. They are an hour plus apart and does not mean anything about that possible rule.

Clay County, there will be a void in the East for Late Model racing and this may be the time to think about adding them to your program.

Mt. Vernon car counts

Nobody forced those cars to leave Mt. Vernon they left because they did not like racing there!

Hmmm...if Flora goes to Saturdays, that takes away even more from Mt. Vernon.

MOOT point now, since Rick has decided to close up shop. Hopefully over the winter season he will reconsider.
