Another star-studded field of cars and stars was on hand Saturday night at Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) as the fans in the stands witnessed a total 20 races. Pleasant temperatures greeted everybody who came through the gates and once again the CMS track preparation crew did an outstanding job on the track for the evening's competition. A total of 99 cars checked in for the four competing divisions with 33 'Mighty' Modifieds, 21 ULMA Late Models, 13 Street Stocks and 32 B-modifieds. The B-modifieds had the spotlight for the night as 20 drivers raced their way into the main event in which they competed for increased payout money, with $600 going to the winner! Feature race results for each division appear throughout this press release. For complete results visit the track's official Website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

Whenever extra money is added to the payout for big feature race events by promoters Earl and Susan Walls, the competitors step up their game and treat the fans to some great racing. Last night was no exception as the 32 B-modified drivers on hand drew for their starting positions using a straight up pill draw to determine the lineups for the four hotly contested heat races. In addition to the heat races, drivers also had a last-chance b-main event for one final shot to become one of the 20 starters in the 20-lap feature race. Heat race victories went to Brian Ziegler over Darren Poston and Jeremiah Stephens; C.J. Lyle over Max Grogan and Ethan Isaacs; Bobby Raybourn over Scotty Martin and Jake Newman; and D.J. DeMotte over Phillip Bradshaw and Jeremy Lile. Leading the way in the last chance b-main race was Chad Lebsock over Michael Mullins, Gary Lewis and Cliff Owings. It was clear from the drop of the green flag that the talented field of racers was determined to give the fans an exciting race. Unfortunately for DeMotte, he lost a driveshaft on the initial start of the race and did not get to complete one lap. After that incident, the field was re-set and from the start of the event Ziegler and Lyle looked strong with Martin and Isaacs battling for position close behind. During the initial green-flag laps Ziegler, Lyle and Martin looked like they would check out on the field as Isaacs began to make his way to the front from his ninth starting position. Ziegler and Lyle battled hard with Martin not far behind through much of the race. Behind them, Ethan Isaacs and a hard-charging Newman and Lucas Isaacs had a great battle going for fourth, fifth and sixth spots. Only three cautions slowed the field as Ziegler did everything he could to keep Lyle behind him on each of the race re-starts. Late in the race, Ethan Isaacs began pressuring Martin for third as the two raced together for several laps before Martin was able to finally secure the position. In the end, Ziegler, a rookie driver, hung on to claim his first feature race victory in his BZ Storage/T&E Tire Service sponsored number 65 ahead of Lyle at the line. Scotty Martin was a close third behind the lead duo with Ethan Isaacs fourth, Jake Newman, fifth, Lucas Isaacs sixth, Raybourn seventh, Bradshaw eighth, Poston ninth and Lebsock tenth.

An exceptionally strong field of ‘Mighty’ Modified competitors were on hand last evening competing in a total of seven races, something that has been the norm this year at the high-banked 3/8th mile facility. Everyone who has attended CMS this year knows that the modified action at the track is second to none! With the next 'Big One' now just three weeks away on Saturday, June 30th, several drivers have recently stepped up their programs and are hoping to be one of the favorites to claim the hefty $3,000 first-place check! Last night it took no less than five heat races and a b-main to round out the lineup for the 24-car starting field. Qualifying heat race winners were Donald Danner, Tom Charles, Dave Meyer, Terry Schultz and Joe Walker. Dennis Walrath of Clinton, Missouri flew the checkers in the b-main. The top four finishers from the heats and top four from the b-main transferred to the feature event. With Danner and Charles leading the field into turn one at the drop of the green it was Charles who edged out front in the initial laps after two false starts, which sent several front runners scrambling and eventually forcing them to re-start the race tailback. Danner followed close behind in the opening laps with Terry Schultz and Walker racing hard for positions three and four. The 'mighty' ones didn't let any of the fans down as the drivers jockeyed for positions throughout the entire field. By mid race Tom Charles looked to be an uncontested winner as he continued to hold court over Danner and Schultz. The racing action was nonstop for several laps with some of the best racing in the middle of the pack for the sixth and seventh spots with Dustin Boney and Kyle Westerhold. Lap after lap the two hounded each other for the spot until finally late in the race Boney was able to secure sixth. As the race neared completion Tom Charles began to approach lapped traffic as his lead began to dwindle away. Meanwhile, Schultz finally made a late-race pass on Danner for second and set sail trying to chase down Charles. Schultz did indeed chase Charles down and coming for the checkered flag made his final move at the checkered flag to win the thrilling event. This is the third week in a row that the white flag lap leader has wound up second at the finish line! Charles finished a few feet behind Schultz for second with Danner third, Walker fourth, Tim Karrick fifth and Dustin Boney edging out Westerhold for sixth.

Last week the ultra quick ULMA Late Models had an outstanding run to the finish with a caution-free and action-packed race. This week the 20 drivers competing in the main event had a rough time getting the feature race underway. Just like last week, a total of three hotly contested qualifying heat races took to the track as official scorer Karen Darling sorted out the starting lineup for the feature event. Two new faces visited victory lane in heat-race action with Kevin Kaiser and Shawn Williams grabbing their first CMS wins of the year. Multi-time winner Brett Rollert tasted victory in heat race number three. Once the field was set to go green an incident in the opening laps between Jason Estes and Jeff Schlup brought out a caution flag with Schlup being done for the night. A multi-car crash slowed the field shortly thereafter as the start of the race was delayed once again, this time David Angell was not able to continue after he became a victim of circumstance in turns three and four. With only one lap in the books, another incident brought out one more caution before the drivers finally settled into a rhythm for the initial laps. Kaiser and Williams initially got out front and had a great race going for the lead with Rollert and Fred King in hot pursuit. After one more caution re-grouped the field, it was birthday boy Fred King who fought his way into the lead ahead of Williams and Kaiser on lap seven. Once King got out front he protected the low line several times as Kaiser hounded him for the position, at one point going into the lead. Rollert tried to maneuver around the track on the high side but was not able to gain ground on the leaders. Steven Clancy and Williams battled late in the event for fourth with a rebounding Jason Estes trying to gain positions as well. In the end Fred King held on for the win ahead of Kaiser, Rollert, Clancy, Williams and Estes.

Racing just wouldn't be the same without some good old fashioned stock-car racing and the CMS street stock competitors did just that last night. A field of 13 strong competitors raced their way to feature race starting positions in two heat races. Heat victories went to Herb Dannar and Chad Eickleberry. Drivers did all they could to gain positions during the qualifying heats in order to earn positions for the start of the 15-lap feature race. It was Herb Dannar who made some great moves for position early on with several fans in the stands rooting him on as he tried to maneuver around Eickleberry for the lead. Marc Carter and Nathan Himes were waging their own epic battle for the third and fourth positions as Brian Johnson kept the leaders from running way. By lap five it was Eickleberry who had the lead ahead of Dannar and Carter. At the 10-lap point, Eickleberry had separated himself from the rest of the field with some of the best racing all night taking place behind him. Carter and Himes took their battle for position down to the wire with side-by-side clean racing until the checkers flew for Eickleberry at the 15-lap point. Carter Edged Himes for the second spot leaving Himes in third, Johnson fourth, Danner fifth and Tammy Korff rounding out the top six.
