Lonnie Bailey, Vance Wilson, Wyatt Lance and Adam Birck all took feature event wins Sunday night at Quincy Raceways during Budweiser/Rinella Company Fan Appreciation Night at the Races. Quincy Raceways received over twelve inches of rain over the past week and it didn’t look like any racing would take past this weekend but it seemed like a small miracle took place Sunday as the track crew was able to get the pits and racing surface ready in time for action.

Bailey laid claim to his first ever Budweiser IMCA Late Model Track Points Championship as well as the Season Championship feature event win. Bailey made it a clean sweep for the night as he took wins in his heat, the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash and the 30 lap Season Championship feature. Bailey started on the pole for the main event and held off the early challenges of Brent Slocum to take a sizable lead into the middle portion of the event. Mark Burgtorf made an effort to catch Bailey during the closing stages of the event but had to settle for second followed by Slocum in third, Jamie Wilson in fourth and Denny Woodworth in fifth. Slocum took the other heat race win. Bailey night was not over at the checkered flag as an engine protest was lodged. Bailey had his engine thoroughly inspected from top to bottom and was found to be legal thus claiming his first ever IMCA Late Model Track Points Championship. Brent Slocum had to settle for the second spot in points four markers behind Bailey.

Vance Wilson picked up his fourth feature event win in seven starts in the Miller Lite A-Modified feature event. Wilson grabbed the lead away from brother Terry on 12th lap when his younger brother spun on his own bringing out the second caution flag of the event. Wilson then held off the challenges of Brandon Lennox to claim the win over Lennox in second, Henry Delonjay in third, Jim Roach in fourth and Danny Lake in fifth. Terry Wilson and Lennox were the heat race winners. DeLonjay climbed back into the points battle with Michael Long as Long was knocked out of the event during a first lap accident. Long now lead the points chase by 3 over Delonjay in second with two points races left in the 2004 season.

Wyatt Lance again made his case for his first ever Track Points Championship as he won his 7th points race in 15 starts. Lance grabbed the lead from Wes Mayfield on the fourth lap and held off Tony Dunker a the checkered flag to take the win. Dunker settled for second with Jack Evans Jr. in third, Kelly Bartz in fourth and Terry Houston in fifth. Bartz and Dunker took heat race wins with Jim Leffew taking the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Dash. Lance now holds a narrow four point lead over Dunker for the Track Points Championship.

Adam Birck recovered from his roll over last week to pick up his fourth feature event win of the season in the Bomber division after a terrific battle with Eddie Dieker. Dieker passed Birck for the lead on the eighteenth lap but the pass did not stick as the caution flag came out. Birck held off Dieker for the final three laps to take the win with Dieker settling for second. Gary Lewis took third with Brent Chapman in fourth and Travis Booher in fifth. Jeff Delonjay, Birck and Todd Reichert were the heat race winners.

The final two weeks of racing action are coming up at Quincy Raceways with several events. The IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for the Late Models is on tap for Sunday, Sept 5. The highlight of that nights action will be a 50 lap, $2000 to win feature event for the IMCA Deery Brothers Late Models. All the regular classes for Quincy Raceways will be doing battle in their next to last night for points racing. Labor Day Monday will be the wild and wooley Eve of Destruction feature seven Smashing events, including a Roll Over Contest, School Bus Racing, 2 Man Cruisers, School Bus Figure 8 Race, two Demolition Derbies(Full Size and Compact Cars), Psycho-Jet a Jet Powered Four Wheeler melting a car and the Red Cactus Salsa Crusher Monster Truck attempting to break the World’s Record for the longest Wheelie in a Monster Truck and a Bus Smashing Freestyle event. The rain date for the Eve of Destruction is Saturday, September 11. The racing Stock Car racing season ends at Quincy Raceways with the Season Championship Night. The Track Points Championships will be decided after the Season Championship feature events have been run that night for all but the Budweiser IMCA Late Models who had their Season Championship race night on August 29.
