Lonnie Bailey, Vance Wilson, Trent Grotz and Jason Daggs all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, September 7 during Fan Appreciation Night action.

Lonnie Bailey came away the big winner in the Topless 40 for the Budweiser IMCA Late Models. Gary Russell took the early lead in the 40 lapper after a first lap crash sent 6 cars to the pits for damage. Russell charged out in from of the field and built a lead until Lonnie Bailey and Mark Burgtorf worked their way through to start an incredible three way battle for the top spot. Bailey worked on Russell from lap 6 until lap 21 when he slipped by to take the lead only to have Russell claw back into the lead on the next lap. Meanwhile, Mark Burgtrof was working over both Bailey and Russell as the three were separated by only a few feet. Burgtorf got by Bailey on lap 29 and started challenging Russell for the lead only to have Bailey get back past into second on the 33rd lap. Russell and Bailey pulled away slightly from Burgtorf to make it a 2 car battle for the lead for the last few laps. Bailey then used a great pick move to get by Russell to take the lead when a lapped car blocked Russell for a few seconds on the 37th lap . Bailey then held off Russell to take the $1000 payday with Russell settling for second followed closely by Burgtorf in third. Denny Woodworth worked his way through the field to take fourth followed by Joey Gower in fifth. Mike Karhoff and Ron Elbe laid claim to the heat race wins.

The Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash Shootout was also on tap for the Topless IMCA Late Models with Mark Burgtorf taking a dominating win in the 20 lap affair. Jamie Wilson and Denny Woodworth grabbed up the second and third spot in the $500 to win Shootout.

The Miller Lite A-Modified feature event was marred by numerous cautions periods causing the event to be cut to 9 laps of the scheduled 20 lap distance. Vance Wilson picked up his fourth feature win out of 5 appearances this year at Quincy Raceways. Jim Roach led from lap 2 through 7 of the nine completed laps but could not hold off Wilson and had to settle for the second spot followed by Ted Allen in third, Brandon Lennox in fourth and Henry Delonjay in fifth. Delonjay, Michael Long and Ryan Meyer were the heat race winners with Meyer also collecting the hardware in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash. Henry Delonjay now holds a 16 point advantage over Meyer in trying to score his 11th Track Points Championship.

The B-Modifieds also had numerous problems in their feature event as they only completed 9 laps of the scheduled 18 circuits. Trent Grotz took his second feature win of the year by passing early leader Tony Patterson on lap 8 and holding off Terry Houston for the win. Houston settled for second with Patterson in third, Kevin Tomlinson in fourth and Joe Bliven in fifth. Joe Hooper, Bobby Cookson and Patterson took the heat race wins. Tony Dunker now maintains a 13 point lead over Wyatt Lance going into the Season Championship Events.

The Bomber feature event was settled in the tech area as Matt Bockenfeld was found to have an unapproved transmission in his ride giving the win to Rookie Jason Daggs. Daggs took his first ever feature event win with the DQ over Adam Birck in second, Billy Genenbacher in third, Eddie Dieker in fourth and Brent Chapman in fifth. Daggs, Craig Spilker, Bockenfeld and Steve Carlin took the checkered flags in the heat races while Jarrod Richie and Jeff Soper took the wins in the B-Mains. Steve Carlin now holds a slim 6 point advantage over Genenbacher in the chase for the Track Points Title.

Sunday, September 14th will be the last event for the 2003 racing season at Quincy Raceways with the Season Championship races on tap for the evening in the Miller Lite A-Mods, B-Mods and Bombers, the IMCA Late Models will also be competing but the Season Championship and Track Points Titles were decided on August 24th.
