Happy, Texas (04/30/14) – More races and more wins for Rodney Sanders over the weekend as he conquered a pair of United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) events in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

Rodney Sanders set out to enter a trio of United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) events over the weekend, but it would be cut short by Mother Nature as Thursday night's event at Cedar County Speedway (Tipton, Iowa) was postponed.

On Friday the team traveled to Bloomfield Speedway (Bloomfield, Iowa) for a $2,000-to-win event with the USMTS Open Wheel Modifieds.
Twenty-one entries registered for battle, and after drawing the fourth starting spot for his heat race Rodney finished third to earn a spot in the redraw for the 35 lap finale. After starting fifth, Sanders took the race lead from Zack VanderBeek with less the ten to go and held on for the remaining laps to score his eighth win of the season over VanderBeek, Austin Siebert, Nate Wasmund, and Daniel Hilsabeck.

On Saturday night Rodney Sanders piloted his entry to victory lane in a $2,000-to-win program at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri). Twenty-four competitors registered for action, and Rodney won his heat race from the fifth starting spot to lock into the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the pole position for the finale with Dylan Smith alongside. Sanders jumped out to a big lead early in the main event, but a pair of caution flags kept the field within striking distance. Rodney fended off Nate Wasmund early in the going and despite a side-by-side dual with Zack VanderBeek over the final ten laps, Sanders held on for the victory and the weekend sweep.

VanderBeek finished second followed by Stormy Scott, Dylan Smith, and John Allen rounding out the top five. Sanders 2014 victory tally now resides at nine.
