BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (April 26, 2003) Steve Barton of Bonne Terre had a great night Saturday at Big River Sand Drags as he picked up top eliminator honors in not one, but two classes.
In the Competition Eliminator class, Barton defeated Josh Varner of Bonne Terre to take the top eliminator title. Barton had finished second overall in the class while Varner had captured first before the two squared off in the top eliminator race.
In Open 4x4, Barton finished in first place while Kenny Stoddard was second. Barton was then the winner of the top eliminator race.
In Off Road Modified, Todd Dee of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Randy Hayes finished in second place.
In Stock Buggy, Gary Hollinsworth of Mineral Point was the top eliminator and first place winner while Kevin Sellers of Arnold captured second place.
In Vehicle ET, Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre was the top eliminator and first place winner while Philip Beaird of St. Louis was second.
In Super Pro ATV, Jason Waller of Bonne Terre was first with J.R. Dreher of Wentzville second. Dreher then defeated Waller in the top eliminator race.
In Pro ATV, Jeffrey Griffin of Pevely was the top eliminator and first place winner while Rick Finney of St. Louis captured second place.
In ATV-1, 10-year-old Allie Glatczak of Potosi was the top eliminator and first place winner while Phil McCoy of Potosi settled for second place.
In Junior ATV, Nick Butler of Farmington was the top eliminator and first place winner while James Simmons of Bismarck (on his first race ever at Big River) captured second place.
There will be no races this week at Big River Sand Drags. Racing will continue on Saturday, May 10th with Crossroads Lounge & Steakhouse Night.
