Inside Line Promotions - ODESSA, Texas (April 22, 2014) - Josh Baughman spent the past couple of weekends with his family, which culminated with an Easter egg hunt.
"I just did the family thing," he said. "I hung out with the kids, ate a bunch of chocolate."
This weekend marks his return to the Jason Johnson Racing sprint car during the ASCS Lone Star Region events on Friday at Lubbock Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, and on Saturday at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas.
"I feel like going into this weekend we can contend for a couple of wins," he said. "I have laps around both tracks."
Baughman made his debut at Lubbock Speedway last year and nearly picked up a podium finish. He led part of the race and was in contention for a top three before being crashed in the closing laps.
"I think Lubbock Speedway is a fun place," he said. "There's a lot of slide jobs in turns three and four."
Baughman recorded two top 10s in a pair of regional races at Abilene Speedway last year and he was victorious during a 305ci event at the quarter-mile track last October.
"Abilene Speedway gets real slick around the bottom," he said. "It's one of those deals about who is going to make the first mistake. Hopefully we can put together some consistent laps."
Baughman ranks third in the ASCS Lone Star Region championship standings entering this weekend.
