Belle Clair Rained Out

You can't start racing too early in the night or you will sandblast the crowd. There is no way around it. If you race too early during the day the track won't hold up. It won't even be close. St. Louis tracks are way too comfortable dusting their crowds as it is. Sunday racing isn't for everyone and it hasn't ever been. It is for the real diehards. The ones that are willing to do anything to get another night in. That doesn't say that the racers will enjoy getting walked on or that they'd put up with it, but it does say that they are willing to have a rough Monday morning to get the extra night in. The same thing goes with the fans. In St. Louis the fans are a bit spoiled as far as driving distances to the racetracks. I mean when you get out of Belleville on a Sunday you are right in town. Godfrey, Pevely, and St. Charles were always really close to home. In Kansas City we went years (from 88 to 2000) with the closest dirt track being over an hour away. The closest Saturday night track was 50 minutes from Downtown. LA Raceway has been trying to do the same thing as Belleville by running rained out Friday shows on Sunday. They are 30 minutes from the next town let alone the major draw city. I think its great to have some place running on Sundays on rainy weekends. I mean I get blasted on here for criticisng promoters, but then when one finaly does something right everyone blasts him.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT LAYNE,AND THIS DIE HARD WILLBE THERE,MR.NAPA MAN WITH THE ABOVE POST WILLBE AT HOME I WISHING THEY WERE MIDGETS ,HECK IT'S 45 MINUTES FOR ME TO GET TO WORK BUT I'LL BE THERE,IT TAKES 4 HOURS TO RUN TO RUN2 CLASSES MAN I'M IMPRESSED I WONDER HOW LATE THEY WOULD BE IF THEY RAN 4 CLASSES ART

My Shop Closes At 400 P.m. So I Would Like It To Stay The Same . I Have To Work Every Saturday Morning At 730 Am So Either Way I Am Tired The Next Day.the Car Count If You Remember Was Not Hurt At All By The Time . The Only Thing Different Was That Not Everyone Knows Yet About The Sunday Racing So The Stands Were Kind Of Empty. I Guess What Im Trying To Say Is That No Matter What They Do Somone Is Still Going To Complian.you Cant Make Everyone Happy .lets Just All Thank Stan Or Whoever Is Responsible For Letting Us Race On Sundays At All!!!
J.m.o.,

Chris
I totally agree. There is absolutely no way to make everyone happy. If the races get out to late for you on Sunday, then it's simple, stay home! :D

I like the sunday night racing i have to be to work at 7 on monday mornings! If you are a diehard racefan or driver u wont compliain ab0out the times! Frankie Martin has to be to work by 11 or 12 alot of times on sunday nights but he doesnt complain about running! If u love racing then u dont mind! I am not arguing though everyone has their own opinion! I just know that i love racing so sunday ngihts r fine with me!

Yea man i mean if u love racing then you love sunday night racing! If u dont ike it stay home! Or if you go then dont complain! Cuz like everyone hs been saying u cant please everyone

In July and August you just can't start real early in the afternoon because the track will go away. Then you'll have a long delay for it to be re-watered and run in again. You will not save time by starting early in the dead of summer at Belle Clair.

The MARA Midget/600 shows don't start at 3:00 or 4:00 PM and there are drivers and fans, some coming as far as Indiana and Ohio, who don't complain about their start time.

This one has me baffled. If you know Belle Clair, and most of the people responding to this post do, you know that a 3:00 or 4:00 PM is not realistic unless you prefer to be in a dust bowl after hot laps or you prefer to wait 30-45 minutes while the track gets prep'd again. Kurt's good but he can't fool Mother Nature.

See ya Sunday.

I for one don't think it's much fun watching the races through a cloud of dust. BLAH!! Hey The Talker Guy, have a good night at I-55 tonight. I won't be able to attend tonight, darn.

you are so correct,dennis... you cannot have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. he definitely missed more school than his mom was aware of. you have to read and re-read his posts many times, and you still have to guess at what he's trying to say. like it's a foreign language or something!!

TTG you are absolutely right. I've been really impressed by the track prep at Belleville all year long. I almost went to Godfrey for that great race at the beginning of the year, because I was unhappy about some one laned races I had been to there the year before. Fortunately I made the right decision and I haven't been dissapointed yet ( I did go to the Godfrey CoC race which was also very good). So far they really have their stuff together over there. Looks like I'm going to be in Rolla most of the summer so I'm really looking forward to getting over to Belleville alot this year.

P.S. Pevely's track preperation was really good last week. I was really impressed. A 200% improvement over opening night. I hope they keep it up.

Layne, you need to come to Belleville for one of the Sun. midget shows when the track is alot better than what you have seen on Friday nights.

I don't feel safe at the midget shows. There is not enough fence at that place. I would love to see midgets and sprint cars run there, but you couldn't pay me to sit with that small fence for the All Star Show I've seen several sprint cars hit fences high enough up that they would've cleared the one at Belleville. I for one like watching modifieds and LMs more than winged sprint cars anyway, but the midgets might be fun. I probably will go one time, because the red 01 midget that runs there I happen to know. In fact it is painted alot like the modified one of my uncles drive (and my dad owns).

I Agree, When The Temp Gets Into The 90's Everyday During The Summer, Starting Too Early Wouldn't Be Wise. The Track Would Be Bad, And More Time Before The Sun Goes Down To Sit And Bake In The Heat For The Fans.

I Have To Be At Work At Quarter Till Six, And I Will Be Somewhere Tonight Regardless.

I hear you pitdrifter I have to be up early too for work but i will be at belle clair tonight! True race fans will go no matter what!
