Belle-Clare consideration

I have always thought it would be cool for BC to move stock cars to sunday then have a partial local points season on say 2 fridays a month for midgets and micros (under POWRi rules but just local track points) But I know I am dreaming :)

Drawing micros on a Friday might be a challenge, especially early and late in the season when school is in session.

Tri city has nothing to do with this place losing cars and fans. It is all belleclairs fault with over pricing, bad shape, allied, and the need to pocket all the money and not put back in the place. Like i said before you are looking at the next Godfrey or St Charles. Sunday would be there best move. Jmo

When you open yur mouth a avalanche of bullsh** pours out. You are a stooge.

I tried to explain this to you before when we were discussing Highland. The track and facility is owned by St. Clair County (just as Highland is owned by Madison County). The promotor leases (rents) the facility. They can not put money into to upgrading the facilities because they don't own the place and have no authority to do such a thing. Would you put money into remodeling a house that you are renting? Hell no you wouldn't.

Tri-City and I-55 have a huge advantage in that they are privately owned.

Jason i never said nothing about the promotor doing it.When i say pocket the money im talking about the county or board. would you rent a house that has not been keep up? I wouldnt and not to many people will either. This is a track that i dont want to see go.but with all the talk about it this year. just what is in store for this place? It has been around for as long as most people on here are old lol. It pisses people off when i say this stuff, but the truth is the truth. I seen this happen to godfrey and st charles both and really dont want it to happen to them.

Ok, so you're expecting a county that already runs at a deficit to put money into the track? Come on, let's be serious.

Godfrey was an iminent domain deal if I remember right. That won't happen to publicly owned property. Especially not the county fairgrounds.

Nope it wont be iminent domain that closes the place.it will be lack of care for the old place.

the track is just a small part of the fairgrounds the other consideration is sundays they have some kinda shows in the expo hall which brings in the money

It is my understanding that BelleClair is owned by the St Clair County Fair Association which is a privately held organization that is helped by state money received to run a county fair. I also thought that Highland is owned and operated by the Helvetia Sharpshooters organization.

very good idea. truly. one of the biggest issues with that is the noise. the locals are already screaming about it to the city fathers, and the majority of them dont have to get up early for work the next day. with a sunday race, almost all will have to get up early for work.with noise, traffic ,lights, ect being an issue until (most likely) 11 pm or later, they all are gonna have a stroke running to their respective alderman/women. it will never fly. the homeowners bring in more votes and tax dollars than that racetrack does. although the most obvious argument for the track will be "it was there since the 40's, so you knew that when you moved in", doesnt really matter. saw a bumper sticker once that said 'never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers'. that says it all.

I live very close to Belle Clair and all the new subdivisions south of the track are the ones complaining of noise you never hear a negative word from the people right across the street from the track..We are the ones who put up with the stockcar racers blocking the streets and fans parking way too close to to the corners which makes it really hard for the residents to get down the streets and the fans throwing there empty beer cans in our yards but no we don't complain we just go out every Sat. and pickup the trash..This track has ran on Friday forever and we just adjust without complaining..So all you people in the new subdivisions three words for you "**** it Up" the track was there first!!!
