I've been working on the program book for the 75th anniversary of the first Midget race in St. Louis. The program will be available for purchase at Belle-Clair next Friday and Saturday. Come and enjoy the celebration, vintage race cars, race simulators, and a 75-lap feature on Saturday.

In that program is a short history of the 4 tracks that have been in Belleville. There was the Belleville Athletic Fields, White Rose Speedway, the half-mile at the fairgrounds which sat about where the livestock barns are currently and the present track which hosted its first racing card, midgets, on June 15, 1948 or 62 years and 5 days ago. Both the Athletic Fields and White Rose opened with midgets. I've also seen an aerial photo of the facility that shows a smaller oval between the current oval and the street.
