Only two nights of racing action remain at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway for the 2006 Contingency Connection season championships! Although the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds will not run for points this weekend, it doesn’t mean there won’t be several of the areas top modified drivers on hand to compete in the highly anticipated final CMS big-money race of the year. Due to some other area track’s not running their normal schedules on Saturday night and another track running a big-money event Friday night, a large contingent of modified competitors is expected to make their way to the CMS high banks and race for the $2,000 first-place prize in the special 40-lap feature race. All competitors signing in will compete through heat races with line-ups determined by a random pill draw. Drivers are reminded that pill draw ends at 6:30PM sharp! Drivers signing in after the close-out of pill draw will be relegated to the tail end of the heat race starting fields.

In this year’s previous two other big-money events Gary Blackburn, Jr., and Jason Hughes walked away with the trophies and money! Who will it be this Saturday? It’s anyone’s guess as the allure of the big money offered up by Mr. Earl Walls has traditionally attracted drivers from all over the Midwest region. CMS regulars such as Aaron Marrant, Richard Layne, Dave Meyer and Dennis Walrath will do their best to fend off the challenges of any travelers who have “cashing in” on their home-turf money in mind! The payout based upon 40 entries will be $2,000 for first, $1,500 for second, $1,000 for third, $900 for fourth, $800 for fifth, $700 for sixth, $600 for seventh, $500 for eighth, $400 for ninth, $300 for tenth, $200 for eleventh; with the 12th to 24th place finishers earning $100 to start! For drivers who have already competed at least twice this year at CMS there will be no entry fee; however, for those that have not competed at least twice prior to this Saturday there will be a $100 entry fee. NARI Insurance is also a requirement to compete at CMS and can be purchased at the track if needed. Drivers who wish to compete but would like to ask or clarify any technical questions are encouraged to call the track’s Technical Inspector, Al Mizer, at (660) 238-4657 prior to heading to the track. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for this race as crowds are typically larger for the special events.

This week’s Contingency Connection bonus award class will be the B-Modified division and the evening’s sponsor will be KFKF radio. The B-mods, along with the Limited Late Models and Street Stocks will all be competing this Saturday night for weekly points as their seasons wind down and the point battles tighten up. As usual, intermission time will be filled with lots of Track Report program giveaways and there’s still one more week to sign up for up to $1,000 in discounted coupons from King’s Small Engine Repair. Due to last week’s rainout, Fan Appreciation Night will be held on Championship Night, which will be the final night of racing action on Saturday, September 9th. Sprint cars will also be on hand with the other classes for the championship night races on the final night.

Drivers will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the annual C.A.R.B. banquet beginning this weekend. Tickets can be purchased at the pitside admission area, cost for the tickets will be $30 each if purchased before November 7th, after which they will be increased to $35 each. Drivers are also reminded that the annual Rules Review Meeting will be held at 4PM sharp near the pitside entrance. Only drivers will be allowed to vote during the meeting but crewmembers and others may attend.

In case Mother Nature does not cooperate with us this weekend, the races will be ran the following night, Sunday, the 3rd of September using the same time, entry, and admission specifics. CMS is located just 3.5 miles north of Warrensburg, MO, on 13 Hwy. Exit off of 50 Hwy in Warrensburg and simply head north on 13 Hwy and then look for the track’s large sign on the right side. If you are coming from I-70, simply exit at the Higginsville exit and head south on 13 Hwy for 12 miles and look for the track’s sign on the left side. Admission gates will open at 5, hot laps begin at 7 and the first green flag of the night will fall at 7:30. Special Admission prices are in effect this weekend: Adults-$15, Seniors 60+ and Military w/Valid ID-$12, Kids ages 6 thru 12-$10, Kids 5 and under FREE! Pit Passes will be $25 for this race. This week’s ‘Track Report’ program features historical stats and all the latest point standings and race results from this year’s action as provided by Track Statistician Glyda Jaeger. Point Standings, Results and much more can be found on the track Website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net. For up-to-the-minute racing and event information call our Track Report line at (660) 747-2166. We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend at CMS and thank all of the fans for choosing CMS as their dirt of choice for racing action on Saturday nights in the greater Kansas City area!
