Batesville, Arkansas (8/11/09) – This weekend Billy Moyer Jr. is set to make the short trek to his home track, Batesville Motor Speedway, in Locust Grove, Arkansas in his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis by Moyer/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model for the 17th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100.
Batesville Motor Speedway lies less than ten miles from his families’ racing shop, and it is a place that Billy has spent a lot of race nights over the years. In the past he always turned wrenches on his Dad’s car, but these days he’s turning wrenches on his own car trying to improve on what has been a great season so far.
Nothing would make for a better season than to qualify for another COMP Cams Topless 100 feature like Moyer Jr. did in 2008, and record another strong finish. Moyer Jr.’s pursuit of his goal will begin this Thursday, August 13th with an Open Practice Session. On Friday night, August 14th, group qualifying and heat races will be on tap, while Saturday, August 15th will see b-mains and the 100 lap finale. This year’s event is once again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and boasts a $40,000 to win/$2,000 to start purse. In addition, the Speed TV cameras will be on hand to tape all of the action for a future airing. Last weekend, Jr. Motorsports entered a lone event as Billy enjoyed a solid night on Friday, August 7th at Malden Speedway with the O'Reilly MSRA Super Late Models. After winning his heat race, he started 4th in the 30 lap feature event. He would run third in the race's early stages before taking possession of the second position on a mid-race restart. He would battle side-by-side with Billy James for the rest of the race before settling for a second place finish. Billy now has an 80 point lead in the latest O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model standings.
