Bluegrass Speedway Celebrates America's Birthday This Saturday, July 2

Bardstown, KY-June 26-Bluegrass Speedway, located outside of beautiful and historic Bardstown, KY, invites everyone to celebrate America's 229th birthday this Saturday night, July 2, at the ½ mile high-banked Nelson County dirt oval.

The event will be a regular show for all classes. The Late Models will race for $1,000 to win, Modifieds for $500 to win, Sportsman for $200 to win, and Street Stocks for $100 to win. It will also be Valvoline Cup Night, rescheduled from a couple of weeks back, with prizes from Valvoline Oil for drivers that sign up for the Valvoline Cup program. The Late Model and Modified divisions will have time trials, while the Sportsman and Street Stocks will line up their heats via the pill draw.

Activities for this July 2 event will see pit gates will open at 4:00, with main gates opening at 5:00. The driver's meeting will be at 6:00, hot laps at 6:30, time trials at 7:00, with racing set to take the green flag at 8:00. All times are EDT. Adult general admission is $10, with children ages 6 to 12 being $5, children under age 6 are free, and pit passes will be $20.

Bluegrass Speedway is once again associated with the Contingency Connection program in 2005, with drivers eligible for over $50,000 in posted contingency prizes if they participate in the program and also make themselves eligible for the season ending Mr. Gasket awards program. Also an added incentive, drivers can now be eligible for the JE Pro Seal Rings Sportsman of the Year program. Contingency Connection winners from June 18 included Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY and Sam Huffer of Elizabethtown, KY, while CC program winners from June 25 included Cliff Clark of Vine Grove, KY and Robbie Turner of Lebanon, KY.

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on June 25 and winners for that evening included Cody Mahoney of Madison, IN in Late Models, Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY in Modifieds, Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY in Sportsman, and Willie Edelen of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.

Current track championship division point leader are Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY and Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY, who are tied for the lead in Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Modifieds, Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY in Sportsman, and Willie Edelen of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.

Bluegrass Speedway is owned by Charles Hamilton and promoted by David and Anita Ferrell. Racing takes place on Saturday nights from mid-April through the end of September. The track is located at exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway.
