Inside Line Promotions - QUINTER, Kan. (Oct. 25, 2018) - Zach Blurton had arguably his best season of sprint car racing this year. So much so, he is beginning to lay the ground work to grow his family team in 2019.

Blurton recorded four wins in his 305ci winged sprint car in 2018 and of the 32 events he competed in, Blurton finished in the top five in half of them while not having a single DNF.

"Honestly it's the best year we've ever had," he said. "I had a season a couple years ago where I won five features, but to be that consistent and not have one DNF shows how good our team really was."

Blurton also earned his second straight United Rebel Sprint Series title in 2018.

"The URSS is working on a deal for 2019 and if it happens it could be really great for us," he said. "I wanted to race for the IMCA title, but there simply isn't enough chances to race for points in our area compared to other areas of the country."

Blurton said he wishes he could start the year like he finished and that has him pumped up for 2019.

"When we made the switch to the Speedway shocks and the new Eagle chassis we really found some speed," he said. "We already ordered a new Eagle and we are getting things ready for 2019. I can't wait."

Blurton noted he is looking to expand his program next year, adding some 360ci sprint car races to the schedule.

"I want to grow our team and set ourselves up for something else," he said. "I'm just not completely sure of the direction as of yet. I feel like my talents aren't showcased enough around here in the 305s."

Blurton has experience in the division as he was the 360 Rookie of the Year at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, in 2013.

"I was just 17 and we really didn't know what we were doing as far as setups," he said. "Now we have a good grasp on what we are doing with the car and I feel we could turn some heads."

Blurton added he would really like to follow the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com if the opportunity presents itself.

"We have a lot of the pieces in place," he said. "We just need a little more help financially for more equipment. Most of the races are pretty close to home."

Blurton would also like to thank all of his sponsors for 2018, including: Midwest Ag Professionals Inc., Wheat State Roofing, King Racing Products, Phillips Chiropractic & Physical Therapy Center, Brian Younker Farms, Bootleggers Main Street Bar & Grill, Jet-Hot Coatings, Randy Patterson Welding, Outlaw Wings, Billinger Repair Shop, Rob's Fun Center, Tornado Racing Engines, Bad Habit Sports Bar & Grill and Rod End Supply.

"It's hard to get sponsorships for sprint car racing and we were able to add a few new ones this year," he said. "It really isn't an understatement to say we couldn't do this without each and every one of them. Some of them really stepped up their help this year and we have some wanting to do more in 2019. All the people behind the businesses that sponsor us are fantastic friends as well as helping the race team financially.

"I also want to thank my wife, Ally, my parents and all my crew guys. My family sacrifices a lot so that I can race and my guys work their butts off all season. They all make this deal a lot of fun."
