Inside Line Promotions - DODGE CITY, Kan. (Sept. 19, 2018) - Zach Blurton put in a dominating performance last Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park to secure his fourth 305ci winged sprint car win of the season.
The 2018 United Rebel Sprint Series champion advanced from third to second place in a heat race before he started on the pole of the feature event and drove to a nearly five-second win.
"We really weren't that good in the heat, but we made some changes and got some luck in the draw to start on the pole," he said. "The car was just awesome. I'm really happy with four wins so far this year.
"We had been struggling with the car lately and with the URSS point deal done we decided to make a bunch of big changes and it was definitely the difference. We really found some good speed."
The win was a great morale boost coming off a disappointing IMCA Nationals at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., a couple of weeks ago.
"We weren't horrible there and finished 15th in the finale, which just making the show with over 90 cars there is incredible," he said. "We should have won a qualifying night feature, but got held up by a lapped car. It was a crazy weekend. It rained nearly the entire deal. It was raining during the last night's championship feature."
Blurton plans to compete next on Sept. 29 at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., as part of the Casey's Midwest Fall Brawl.
"We are working to put together some things that could really be cool if it all pans out," he added. "Stay tuned."
