Bmods??

We don't need restrict or plates nothing wrong with what we have just need good old fashion tech pull a head every now and again but we have become lazy and don't want that lol

This is true but how do you do that with a supposedly sealed crate engine?

T-Man --you ramble on a bit -- fact is by the time you buy a crate you still have other expenses -- the open motors should have been muzzled from the git-go -- allied motor rules would have been on the money -- I have 1200 in the motor in the 27 car but would not honor a claim as I would be out of racing while I collect enough parts to build a motor I can afford -- one ? why would the cops be needed???

we know crates ain't cheap for by the time we put the carb, headers, fuel, water, pump, ignition control, flywheel coupler/clutch were down another 1500 or more bucks, then we need the upgraded valve springs, better go with the cam upgrade, do they even check for the seal bolts and make sure the timing cover hasn't been tampered with? either way to get a legal untouched crate tunkey in my car will set me back 5g, so what would be the difference if i take that 4g and build a motor and bolt a 4 barrel on that, i'm just not buying in on this dictating brand of parts, maybe a engine claim rule could be a way to persuade builders to build in check with some form of a budget for the class modeled around a gm crate rather than monopolizing the gm crate market which don't help if we can find other ways around putting a motor together, so a claim rule might not be what anyone wants, but im getting sick and tired of the hearing this cater to the crate crap when i just want to put a 4 barrel on what i got and run it for what it is, you all don't like it then bring in claim rules, and fireball with great respect, you going out there getting lapped by some them Amods that damn near cost as much as nice houses til you decide to pull off can't be much fun either

Point being made most already had those parts for a standard sbc chevy and had to buy all new to run a crate engine. I think thats the point being made. It is an added upfront expense

After you race on that built engine for 50-70 nights, what do you do with it? It has probably already went to the engine builder to get freshened up once or twice, and then has to go back. My crate will go to the corner for another 50-70 nights. In 4 years the crate is money ahead! We found this out by pulling the plug on a crate purchase.

That's great but what do you do if something such as a leaky head gasket happens to your crate engine? Do you buy a new one? How much does that cost?

Yep, I know some have bought multiple crate engines and had them dynoed and which one had the most horsepower that's the one they kept and sold the others.

You find a crate rebuilder to rebuild it that can reseal it,,,isn't that hard.

This is true I've had to be a crate rebuilder several times. All the customers did was buy new bolts over the internet it isn't that hard after all...... Those bolts only cost a few hundred dollars too.

And that right there is the problem ladies and gentleman we have a non authorized crate rebuilder taking one apart and putting it back together with e bay seals lol good thing a top notch organization like ump is on the job lol

I don't think anyone will question the local tech. I know of no one tech person that can tell me the difference in a real seal, and a fake one. But there is. The lack of good tech will be the demise of this class, and the lack of not looking to the long term results of short term rules. We as drivers are our worst enemy, and sometimes we need to allow good rules to reign us in a little.

Every track needs a crate motor to be able to exchange with any crate at any time period this would help keep things on the up and up

I agree. Take their motor, send it to be totally torn down and give them a replacement motor for one week. This program worked for UMP crates until UMP stop teching them. (Lazy POS Sam)

Go back and look at the a mods. Their motor situation is totally out of control. Crate motors are intended to keep everyone close on HP. It works if you do it right. Changes are always painful buts in the long run it will save the class.

I think to make people believe in a crate only class, you'd have to tear one down every week.

How much money does Gm throw at ump for promoting their crates ?
