Last year's runner-up ULMA Rookie of the Year, Bob Test, of Jefferson City, MO finds himself atop the ULMA standings for the first time-ever heading into competition this weekend. The veteran driver spent many years piloting modified cars but last year was his first full season in a late model. Now, in his second year of ULMA racing, Test leads the way with six starts to the season over Jon Binning of Warrensburg, and rookie Chris Cox, of Jefferson City, MO.

Only nine of twenty-three scheduled events at the four ULMA affiliated tracks have been completed this season. Rains and wet weather have continued to plague the area, which has made it difficult to get things going this season. Nevertheless, the chase for the ULMA championship continues on this weekend with two more scheduled events.

First up will be Friday night action at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO, Friday night May 28. Action at Callaway has been rained out five times out of seven attempts with the last program being ran clear back on May 7th. As you can imagine, drivers are anxious to hit the raceway once again for a full night of racing. The ULMA contingent at Callaway has ran very strong this year with Walker visiting victory lane and Test, Cox, Ezekiel Langley, Trace Westling, James Stafford, and Robbie Wright all posting top-ten finishes so far this season. For detailed information about the raceway visit them online at www.callawayraceways.com.

The Missouri State Fair Speedway is closed this Friday in observance of the Memorial Day Weekend, weekly racing returns to the track on Friday, June 4 for the track's kid's night at the races. Visit www.missouristatefairspeedway.com for additional details and the track's schedule of events.

Central Missouri Speedway has now raced twice this year but has also suffered three rainouts during its early season action. Last weekend, former ULMA champion Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, MO raced his way to his first checkered flag of the year and first ULMA win since his nine-win championship season on July 12, 2008. Bodee's GRT teammate Jon Binning, the speedway's other feature winner this year, came home just behind Bodenhamer in second position, which allowed him to move into second in the overall ULMA point standings. Other strong ULMA runs were recorded by Brett Wood of Warrensburg, Steve Clancy of Odessa, and Danny Monroe of Jamestown. Joe Bartlett and Jimmy Jobe also scored their first ULMA top ten finishes of the year. There were 13 ULMA members present among 17 drivers checked in at the track. This Saturday night the speedway comes blazing back into action with another exciting night of late model racing along with modifieds, and b-modifieds on Saturday night. Look for ULMA stand-out CMS drivers such as Bodenhamer, Binning, Steve Clancy, Shawn Rayfield, Kevin Coyne, an Brett Wood go head-to-head in racing action. Given the fact that Lucas Oil Speedway is running a special event that does not include ULMA late models this weekend and not competing the following weekend, all eyes will be on CMS to see what Lucas cars think they have what it takes to compete at CMS on Saturday nights for the next two weeks.

Last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, a strong field of 19 late models was on hand including 16 ULMA members. A new feature race winner broke through by the end of the night as Jeremy Kelley of Walnut Grove, MO took his first-ever ULMA win and his own first win of the year in a strong run to the front of the field just ahead of defending track champion Tommy Cordray. Kelley “survived several late race caution flags to take the win.” Ben Solberg, Andy Kennedy, Bob Test, Dustin Walker, Danny Lorton, and John Fellers were also inside the top ten once the checkered flag waved. This weekend the speedway hosts a special event and ULMA points will not be awarded. Lucas Oil Speedway will resume weekly racing on June 12 after taking a weekend off on June 5th after this weekend's special-event racing. For complete details be sure to bookmark the track's website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

Darin walker is still the lone driver to have claimed more than one feature race victory this year but the driver has been inactive the last couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see if he makes a return to racing this weekend either at Callaway Raceway or Central Missouri Speedway. Other ULMA feature winners this year include Cordray, Binning, Bodenhamer, and Kelley with one victory each.

ULMA contingencies were claimed last week by Ben Solberg and Trace Westling at Lucas Oil Speedway and Kevin Coyne at Central Missouri Speedway. Contingencies are awarded at each affiliated track based on a blind draw from the feature event races. Zach Green won the track-sponsored ULMA member drawing at CMS. Contingencies will be mailed or presented to drivers at future ULMA-sanctioned events.
