Inside Line Promotions - HAM LAKE, Minn. (Oct. 18, 2018) - Ryan Bowers has wrapped up his season with a second-place finish in the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series championship standings behind the wheel of the No. 5 Kouba Racing winged sprint car.

"It was a fun season and I really enjoyed driving for the Kouba Family," he said. "To be a part of their long history of racing, I felt rather privileged. We worked hard all season long and did our best."

Bowers and the Kouba Racing team came up one spot short of their ultimate goal - winning the UMSS title. However, Bowers said that it's hard to be upset about coming in second.

"We had a lot of great partners that made it possible to compete this year," he said. "I'm fortunate to be able to even drive a sprint car. There's not a lot of people who get to do that so at the end of the day I'm really lucky."

Bowers, who finished the year with a pair of wins, eight top fives and 10 top 10s in 19 starts, said he will not be returning to Kouba Racing next season. He's open to different possibilities and hopes that he'll find his way to the track whether he's racing or wrenching.

"It's a long winter," Bowers said. "Right now I'm focusing on the K-1 RaceGear and getting people set up with suits for next year. PRI will be here sooner than we think so we'll be busy getting ready for that. I'm not sure what next year will bring, but it'll work out one way or another."

SEASON STATS -

19 races, 2 wins, 8 top fives, 10 top 10s, 11 top 15s, 16 top 20s
