Pleasanton, CA, (Dec 4, 2002) – Brad Furr Racing is celebrating the prestigious award given to their crew chief Mike Harper. Mike received the “Crew Chief of the Year” award at the recent end-of-the season dinner and awards banquet sponsored by the World of Outlaws. Mike was very surprised and happy to be honored with this achievement. Car owner Randy Furr said, “Mike is very deserving of this award. He puts in 110 percent every day. We are proud to be able to claim him as ‘our’ crew chief. Mike definitely has a bright future ahead of him - we feel lucky to have had the privilege of working with him the last seven years and look forward to working with him again next season.”

After the season ended, Mike earned a little money – this time as a driver, by taking the Sanmina-SCI red number 2 to Hanford, California for the annual Cotton Classic. Mike timed in a very respectable 26th and just missed transferring to the A main in both his heat race and the B main. Overall, Mike felt it was a successful night and used the opportunity to learn what set-up changes do from a “driver viewpoint”. Mike said after the race, “Wow, it’s amazing what a difference a pound of pressure in the right rear or an inch of spacing makes in the handling.” Mike’s final comment of the night was, “At least we rolled her into the trailer in one piece”.

As the Brad Furr Racing team makes plans for the upcoming 2003 season, Mike is busy building cars and making the necessary preparations for an assault on the sprint car circuit. Every year Mike and Brad enjoy more and more success and the team looks forward to making 2003 a record year.
