BELLEVILLE, IL (Wednesday August 11, 2004) Avon Indiana's Brad Kuhn made his first trip to Belle-Clair Speedway a memorable one by dominating the 25 lap M.A.R.A midget feature event at Belle-Clair Speedway Wednesday night to claim the 13th Annual Arnie Knepper Memorial.

Kuhn took advantage of his outside front row starting position to take the lead at the drop of the green with Jeff Flesher and Joey Montgomery giving chase. Kuhn, running right up against the wall, began to stretch out his advantage. Montgomery caught Flesher in lapped traffic and contact between two brought out the caution on lap 22 and ended Flesher's night.

On the restart, two lapped cars separated Kuhn and Montgomery with Montgomery disposing of the two lappers in turn one. As Montgomery pursued the leaders a fierce battle for third raged between Brett Anderson, Justin Allgaier, Steve Knepper and Tim Siner which included several slide jobs.

The caution waved again on lap 27 setting up a three lap shoot-out with Montgomery right on Kuhn's bumper this time. Montgomery attempted a slide job in turn one, but Kuhn rocketed back past to maintain the lead. At the finish it was Brad Kuhn over Joey Montgomery, Brett Anderson, Justin Allgaier, and Steve Knepper rounding out the top five.

In the 600cc micro sprint feature, Springfield's Chad Kendall started third and used the cushion to perfection to claim his first ever victory at Belle-Clair. Adam Holder jumped into the lead at the start with Brad Loyet, Kendall, and Daniel Robinson chasing. Kendall burst into the lead on lap five and dominated the rest of the event. Rounding out the top five were Brad Loyet, Adam Holder, Daniel Robinson and Lance McKinney.

The final event of the Gateway Open Wheel Racing Series at Belle-Clair is Sunday for the MARA midgets and 600cc micro sprints is Sunday September 12.
